Is it possible to assign the left-mouse click temporarily to a keyboard key?
from a bit of searching, it seems http://www.autohotkey.com/ can do it. However im not 100% on that

if you mean you don't mind what key to use then use mousekeys
it comes with windows
just search it on your comp, enable it and you can control left click with 5 on your numpad
