I love it - and the meaning.. I heard it's about how she loves all the bad attention she gets about being a ***** and everything because it just makes her that much popular and noticed - hence at 0:38 you can see on the clipboard: Rihanna - Princess of illuminati ****, then she's dancing with newspapers & cameras etc..

i don't wanna sound like an old dude but i think this video and song has crossed the line. rihanna does have a large young fan base, and i would be pretty horrified if i saw some 4 year old girl walking around singing about how whips and chains excite her and that she loves the smell of sex in the air... at least what's my name was a bit more subtle but this is a little bit ott for young audiences i think.

edit: also what if they google S&M to find out what it means and stumble across hardcore porn? i think this song/video is just trying to shock and be controversial.

It doesnt, but if parents are letting their kids on the internet and listening to music surely they'd intrervene, especially with rihanna.

well i dunno bout you but i never get pop ups any more because these days there are more things that prevent that stuff randomly showing up. parental controls etc.

and the parents aren't going to sit and stare at every thing their child is looking at? they may not even know about this video. it's not even just the internet, it will be on tv and radio too.

you're right, sex is everywhere, but rihanna does have a lot of power influencing young girls (for example so many young girls dyed their hair red because of her) whether she chose to have that power or not is irrelevant, she should know who is listening to her music and instead of singing about how much she loves using whips could use that power to send out a more positive message to her fans.

Well shes expressing herself via her music. Obviously she has a responsibility but its not like its out of the ordinary to have sexual videos/songs.

considering she didn't write the song she's not really expressing herself. and it isn't the most expressive song i've heard. i know those kind of videos aren't out of the ordinary at all, but this is a bit ott.

sex is everywhere but it is not in your face like this every day in pop music. kids will be curious about sex but in my opinion they should learn about in more educational ways like from parents or school etc. if they want to search it they can and will but they won't know (and don't need to know) what S&M means? this video has really crossed the line, music videos shouldn't have people casually sitting around with balls in their mouth and being chained up and whipped, sex to that degree should be left until later in life.

The orginal video you need to be 18+ and have a Youtube account. The orginal video i dont see why you have to be 18+ :S

I think the only reason why you have to be 18+ to watch the official video to the S&M song is because it's been marked as an "explicit" video. I only know this because it's been banned in a few countries across the world because of it. I don't see why it's been marked as an "explicit" video though?
