What are your views about the company Apple and their products.
I love Apple products, though I hate it when people buy the products just because of the name, as more as a fashion statement, and not really know anything about the company or how to use the product fully.

I despise the company but the products are good. I hate how Apple do not design and sell their products to last, but as a designer object that starts off basic so when the next, upgraded version with more features come along they can grab more money to put in Steve "I make CRAP up" Jobs' pocket - assuming he can get anywhere near is back pocket seeing as how many deluded, egotistical numpties who have their heads so far up his ******. I hate the way they advertise their products by poking "fun" at the competition forgetting to pick out why their product is supposedly "good". They're basically advertising features that have existed for years but because it's on their outdated products it somehow becomes good - iPods are one example I can think of.
The only good thing about Apple, notably the products, is the innovation going on to change the way other companies work. Multi-touch for example (which existed before Apple got their crumby hands on them, and acted to keep it their own with is stupid and selfish). iTunes is stupid, a waste of money to buy anything on and I see it as bloatware whenever it tries to come with QuickTime - thankfully I no longer use any Apple based software so I am free from annoying updates that try to bring iTunes with it, plus QuickTime is incredibly irritating to use (or was, until Windows Media Player started playing the popular Apple formats).

i dislike the exclusivity of it all - if you have an apple product it's seen as superior to others. yet the company is extraordinarily clever and their advertising blows their competitors away.

I like Microsoft more as a company but I think that is because mainly due to them being more of a proper company as they seem to do more in terms of helping for education and businesses, Microsoft does quite a bit for the education and business. Even for the students they have the MSP etc where as Apple seem to be more closed in that sense. Both do very good products, even though I think people go and get these Apple-branded products for mostly the name these days.

It's not like old times though, I'm proving an actual point about what MS does for education where Apple do nothing or very little at all. :P

Microsoft do a lot more for education than Apple. Two examples I'm using right now are their licensing options specifically for Schools and their free Live@Edu solution for schools (Basically free MS Exchange hosting).
As Steve Jobs said, they're a "mobile devices" company.

Whilst it's not close to my love of Google and Microsoft I'm quite a fan of Apple. It certainly brings a lot of innovation to the industry, a lot of the stuff they come up with is new and even if it isn't, they've succeeded (single handily in my opinion) in making MP3 players, Smartphones and Tablets popular.
I always get a feeling of quality with their products too, everything seems to work and it's relatively simple yet quite powerful at the same time. Their support is also top-notch from experience, despite this I would not invest in a Mac computer as I just don't think they're good enough value but on the whole I like Apple.
I am not a fan of apple at all. Hate their products (i have an ipod touch, but who doesn't nowadays) but i made a personal promise not to purchase an apple product which doesn't fit in my pocket.
My friend on the otherhand is overwhelmingly annoying with what he does.
He has an itouch, ipad, iphone, imac and soon a macbook.
I would happily go out and buy an archos media player apart from the fact... no fun games.

I like their products but won't pay the substantial price for their computers. Anything else, though, and I will.
Currently running a Hackint0sh, but after a few years I might buy a Mac.

Very crappy company. Profit is all they have in mind, nothing else. All they want is your money, thats typical but as someone else said, nothing they build will last, if anything, they will be built to break the day after your warranty runs out.
Ive always said I wont buy any apple products, but I dived in and bought an ipad, hate it, Im selling it soon.
You pay ALOT of money only to be limited to what you can do, its *REMOVED*!
Hate apple, love microsoft and I dont know about google :P

Love steve jobs? You pay like £200+ for an apple product and hes even limited them so no 'porn' can be accessed on them or something :S Hes all about 'We dont want children accessing porn', well, create parental controls, simple!
Funny thing is, Steve Jobs only earns $1/year from Apple :P
Lew.
I can see the benefit of both PC's and Apple. However for the consumer level I don't agree with Apple products apart from iPod and iPhone (though I am not a fan of the iPhone).
I believe apple products are bloated in their price in terms of the specification of their product, the after sales issues are by far the most expensive to fix, if your PC breaks down you simply replace a part.
If your mac breaks down, you send it to a "professional" so not to void your warranty/ pay about half the value of the product in repairs/ buy a new product.
I also disagree with the attitude of most apple product users, it's almost like a cult.
But yes, I must say that in certain aspects their products are great in aesthetics and technical design.
Vents under the keys and in between the screen and laptop. Genius.
Magnetic Power connector. Genius.
Light up keyboard. Thank god.

Maybe a very ''crappy company'' but, even though of the prices, People do like the products and buy them.
Also you can access prn on any apple product. Apple just cant sell any.
I bought a 32GB iPad, and loved it, but sold it for money. So I can get the iPad 2.0
Putting the prices aside of any Apple Products. There just so great at lasting a long time, When I had a PC I hated how it always used to crash, be updated, security scans. Though I've had my Mac for 2 years now, I've still not had any problem with it.
I also think the service in Apple stores are great.

The problems you stated you had when you used the Windows operating system are down to you or any end user I'm afraid. It is not Microsoft fault in terms of that when it should be you keeping your computer secure and make sure you don't do anything silly.
I've never used Microsoft Support so I can't really comment on your "terrible" remark.

Problems mainly caused by themselves most likely! :P
The only apple products I have are, a iPhone and a iPod. There both amazing. I could never go back to a normal phone, the iPhone just does it ALL! I really want a iPad they look awsome, just a bit on the expensive side at the moment.

Microsoft have support? Usually the problem is easy to fix or is a tiny one off, or that's what I've ever experienced. I'm spectical of Apple because the MacBook my auntie had uninstalled its OS somehow, whether it was her or not, the OS shouldn't be easy to get rid of :P
Yet, Microsofts Support, terrible.
You do realise that issues in windows is mainly attributed to 3rd party developers not Microsoft themselves.
To say their support is terrible would be like saying "Ford support is terrible because they won't tell me how to install my new Sony stereo unit".
Apple products have a very poor recovery time from failure as they often render the whole machine unusable.
Microsoft hold a dominance over the market for a reason and corporations use pc's because they are better for most applications.

I get drawn into the Apple store because it's nice and shiny, like many of their products :D
But I do agree their products are often over priced... But there's clearly a demand for it.
I disagree about their products not lasting though. I've been using iPhones for the last 3 years or so. My iphone 3 lasted me 2 years and my friend still has it, it's in perfect working order despite a few light scratches on the back (however the front/screen isn't scratched a tiny bit).
I love my iPhone (had the iphone 4 since launch day because my contract was up for renewal), I couldn't go back to other phones now (and I've looked/played with many) although perhaps that's because I'm too used to it.
Having said that, I wouldn't buy an iPad or a mac because I have no real need for them. My £500 laptop has lasted almost 2 years and still does everything I need it to do.
Although before I finish my degree I'll probably buy a macbook just so I can take advantage of my 15% student discount... By that time I think I'll need a new computer anyway.

I hate Apple. Why? They have everything I would love iin a company I was involved in. Steve Jobs is a superb speaker, millions of people will buy ANYTHING they release, they can charge inflated prices - and people still pay it, their designing skills are probably the best in the world, and in terms of marketing they clearly do an outstanding job.
I would probably never get an iPhone, wouldn't want a mac, wouldn't want an iPod touch, although I do love the look of macbook pros. The designs on them are just incredible.

Being given free devices isn't a case of doing something for Education, it's more a case of enticing you to buy more.

Their stock really speaks for the success of Apple's true consumer-base. Although, on their business and enterprise side I only know of the newspaper industry that actually uses Macintosh computers for their industry. I personally think that Apple is a big scam of a company when it comes to their prices. Being a computer-nerd it's pretty annoying knowing what Apple actually puts in their Macs and how much it would cost me to build a similar or exact replica of the computer and having a lot of cash left over to spend on LEDs, liquid cooling systems, and a cup-holding peripheral for the real man (or woman). Although, Apple does have it down when it comes to selling on the basis of fashion and aesthetics--in that department they take the cake! (Next to HPs awesome new laptop designs and Dells new tablet PC--awesome!!!)

I prefer windows to apple in the OS wars, but i do have a Mac 24" aswel wich is saweet :] Put Apple do take that extra time on the aesthetics of their products and just make it feel High Quality and are also Reliable and thats why everyone does like them. With the recent Iphone added to my tech Den i can't live without it but am not a hardcore Apple fan all the way, I'm open minded which is best for a geek like me ;)
