Whos producing it? I thought they were in a legal battle?
Infinity ward and raven, infinity ward as usual doing the singleplayer and a different company doing multiplayer (this time its raven instead of treyarch)

I really hope this is the game where the developer has the balls to take out noob tubes/last stand/second chance. They really have no place in a FPS. Losing the knife would be cool as well, but I doubt it'll happen

Yeah hopefully last stand will be taken out, but I doubt grenade launchers and knifes will be taken out.
Maybe they'll make it so that you unlock them at higher levels? Like you have to get to level 30 to unlock the knife, etc

Knife will never be change.
Grenade launchers is a simple fix, change it to cod4 standard and its sorted.
Basically give us a cod4 with better graphics please.

It is confirmed that Sledgehammer is aiming for a "bug free" first outing in the Call of Duty franchise, which also sets a goal for review scores above 95 percent.
I wish them luck but I seriously doubt that'll happen.
I wish them luck but I seriously doubt that'll happen.
Agreed, knowing the pressure activision will put on them, I can't see it happening.

Sledgehammer is helping aswell, with singleplayer I think? Either way it better be a proper sequel.
i don't get why they are only now noting which team works on which bit. Treyarch have always done multiplayer for infinity ward but never got credited. Now sledgehammer are getting credited for aiding..

Say what...
it was recently revealed that treyarch have worked on multiplayer on mw2.
Treyarch contributed so significantly to the multiplayer technology that's in Modern Warfare 2 and they didn't really get the credit for that.

I've been playing MW2 & Black Ops for a week now (late I know ;)) and what I'd like to see is a MW2-style campaign with Black Ops-style online.
I love the idea of split-screen online play - I've used it a lot with my brothers - but the Black Ops campaign is so weird and boring compared to MW2.
Oh, and get rid of noob-tubes. They annoy me SO much -.-
But it should be good :)

Yeah, it had 4 player online co-op, but it wasn't split screen. I don't know why they didnt put it in B.O. it was a fun feature.
Gears of war is really good for split-screen campaign, and Gears 3 will have 4 player online co-op as well i think.

Let's be honest, how hard is it to make a COD game. It's new graphics over the same frame every year

MW3 will probably quite hard since it only begun production like last november & theres 3 studios collaborating in it (which is probably harder because of communication and working with other peoples codes etc.). But generally it's probably the same principals.
And also @aled saying treyarch worked on infinity wards multiplayer, treyarch is a much larger studio who before focusing on cod used to do like 3 games at a time.
Call of Duty is just boring now especially on consoles
I like the fact call of duty is almost the same game every year. Takes away the disappointment of hyping up a game then watching it fail (homefront)

I'll give probs to treyarch for trying to innovate, but I think they mega failed with black ops and I will 100% not buy another treyarch produced call of duty. And, to be honest, once the conclusion is done to the whole modern warfare series in terms of price-soap-makarov then I will probably not buy another infinity ward one either, well never a cod again. I'm going to be severely pissed off if the next one is a prequel with ghost.

if the next COD doesn't have dedicated servers, i probably won't bother with it full stop. activision really don't have any excuses, COD is the best selling FPS franchise ever, they can afford to implement them

Agreed, and now Epic have taken the first step bringing them to console for Gears 3, there'll be a lot of pressure for them to do it.
There's a huge difference between the connections on the Gears 3 beta when the dedicated servers are up, and when they're down, so again, I hope it really piles on the pressure for Activision to follow suit.

This is activision.
Anyway I mainly want MW3 to see the end of the story. **** multiplayer.
I'm a bit sick and tired of INNOVATION, THEY DON'T INNOVATE. Spin-words, who gives a crap, innovation is about experimentation (with the likes of Portal) it isn't about finding new ways to shoot people. I don't give a damn about whether or not there's some new mechanics, as long as it has that fresh feel to it then I don't care.
Sick of shooting people full stop really.

According to mw24/7, it's likely that it will be officially announced on 23rd May.
Will Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 officially be announced on Monday 23rd May?
Activision has set the date for its Pre-E3 Press Conference to be on Monday 23rd of May, which is just two weeks before E3 itself.
With the Internet ablaze with rumors surrounding a supposed Modern Warfare 3 logo and boxart », this could be the perfect time for them to finally officially announce the anticipated sequel to Modern Warfare 2. All the evidence that has arrived in the past few days seems to point to a reveal next month, including this image » of the June issue of Offical Playstation Magazine.
Hopefully Activision will put to bed any rumors surrounding what the next Call of Duty will be called and confirm that they are, in fact, releasing Modern Warfare 3 this year.
As I'm sure you've noticed, Modern Warfare 24/7 has been quiet for a very long time. Hopefully that hasn't put many of you off, though! For the time being at least, we will continue using this website to give you all the latest news that you need to know about the next chapter in the Modern Warfare series. So keep checking back in the coming days, weeks and months as loads of juicy stuff is surely set to arrive!

MW3 Campaign:
The game opens moments after the cliffhanger ending of Modern Warfare 2 with the U.S. struggling to stave off a surprise Russian attack. The single-player campaign will ping-pong players around the world as they take on the multiple throwaway roles as a Russian Federal Protective Services agent, SAS Operative, tank gunner, and AC-130 gunner as well as key characters from previous installments and new recurring characters. The game will feature about 15 missions, kicking off with the invasion of Manhattan by a Russian force and wrapping up with a final encounter in Dubai.
http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2011/05/medium_mw3_president_yuri_volk.jpg
The plot, as described, seems to be keeping with developer Infinity Ward's habit of delivering complex, short sequences punctuated by lots of gunfire and scene changes. The game also has players take control of several vehicles, returning gamers to the AC-130 gunship as a gunner and plopping them down in a tank as part of a U.S. Armored Division.
http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2011/05/medium_sandman_face_detail_01.jpg
The single-player campaign, which appears to wrap up most of the unanswered questions and character fates of the first two Modern Warfare titles, also introduces new characters who appear to be destined for future Modern Warfare games, especially two Delta Force operatives codenamed "Frost" and "Sandman".

Very detailed campaign SPOILERS
Modern Warfare 3 opens as Modern Warfare 2 closed: The United States under siege by Russian forces, ultranationalist Vladimir Makarov on the loose, Captain John "Soap" MacTavish and Captain John Price wounded and on the run with the Russian informant known as Nikolai.
Fleeing to a safehouse in Dharmasala, India, the three are attacked by Makarov's men. In this firefight players take on the role of Yuri, a loyalist who works for Nikolai. Their safehouse compromised, the group flee the area in a helicopter.
The game then cuts to Manhattan where Russia is launching an attack on the city from a fleet of ships parked in the Hudson River. (It appears the famous U.S.S. Intrepid may be destroyed.) The U.S. calls in Delta Force to repel the attack. You take on the role of Frost, a Delta Force operative under the command of Sandman. Your goal is to take out a jamming tower on top of the New York Stock Exchange to open the area for a U.S. counterattack.
Following the mission, Delta flies out of the city on a Blackhawk, gunning down enemy choppers as they make their way to the harbor where they have to infiltrate and take down a Russian sub which is coordinating the attack.
The Campaign Settings of MW3
Dharmasala, India
New York, New York
A plane transporting the president of Russia
A town in Sierra Leone
London, England
Mogadishu, Somalia
Hamburg, Germany
Paris, France
Prague, Czech Republic
A castle in the Czech mountains
Berlin, Germany
The Kremlin in Moscow, Russia
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Washington. D.C.
As the New York missions wrap up the game jumps forward in time half a year, thrusting players into the role of a Russian agent tasked with protecting the president of Russia as he flies to sign a peace treaty with the U.S. The plane is attacked by hijackers mid-air who attempt to kidnap the president and his daughter. The daughter manages to escape. The president of Russia in hand, Makarov vows to prevent a peace treaty by getting the launch codes out of the president and launching an attack against the U.S.
The game then returns us to Price, Soap and Yuri, now in Africa in a search for Makarov. They meet with a local South African arms dealer who tells them about a shipment of chemical weapons that Makarov is trying to buy. The group make their way to Sierra Leone to secure the weapons from African militia.
Next, players take on the role of an SAS operative who is tasked with stopping a delivery of weapons of mass destruction at a London dockyard. A gun battle ensues, and the agents are chased through the London subway. The mission culminates with a series of unmarked trucks exploding in front of the house of Parliament, releasing a deadly chemical agent.
Several other European cities and military bases are hit by similar terrorist attacks backed by Russia, and the death toll rises to the tens of thousands. The series of chemical attacks opens the door for a Russian military blitz strikes across the continent.
Price discovers that the South African arms dealer who tipped them off about the chemical weapons deceived them and travels to Somalia to find the man and interrogate him. Through the arms dealer, Price discovers that Makarov's right hand man, Volk, is hiding out in Paris.
The game's attention next shifts to Hamburg, Germany where players take on the role of a U.S. tank gunner fighting to push back a Russian advance backed by armored divisions.
Where You'll Go, How You'll Kill, and Who Will Die in Modern Warfare 3As Hamburg falls, the game shifts us back to the story of Price and his crew. Now in Paris, players control Delta Force operative Frost who, with the help of the French special forces, leads an assault on Volk's location in the underground catacombs of the city. Next, players take to the sky supporting Frost's ground movements as a gunner in an AC-130.
After capturing and interrogating Volk, Frost learns that Makarov has a meeting in a Prague hotel. Players control Yuri as he and Soap slip into the Russian-controlled city and set-up an ambush for Makarov in a church bell tower. Makarov somehow catches wind of the trap and escapes. Soap, Yuri and Price then have to fight their way out of the city.
Yuri leads the team to one of Makarov's headquarters in the Czech mountains and the group infiltrates the location, looking for clues. They discover that the ultranationlist has the president and is trying to get the codes out of him. Makarov has also discovered the location of the Russian president's daughter. The group move out to Berlin to try and prevent her kidnapping. Playing as Frost, gamers must find the daughter and protect her, while making their way through war-torn Berlin. The daughter, however, is captured and flown away.
Frost next makes his way to the Kremlin where a task force of operatives attack and free the hostages, but Makarov manages to escape again.
The game's final mission occurs in Dubai, where Yuri, Price and Sandman launch an assault on a heavily guarded hotel, eventually finding Makarov and, yes, finally killing him.
It also appears that the game may also include a post-credits level that features the burning of Washington, D. C.
The stage seems set for a passing of the torch: from player-controlled members of Task Force 141 to the new characters from Delta Force.
Multiplayer Info
http://my.picresize.com/vault/ANZL6MU2QH.jpg
Packed with 15 levels set in locations around the world, from Manhattan to the catacombs of Paris, Modern Warfare 3's near-future campaign looks to be an experience that will top anything seen before in a Call of Duty game.
Multiplayer, too, seems to be shaping up to be an experience packed with new maps, experiences and ways to game.
Sources tell Kotaku that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will have as many as 20 multiplayer maps, though it's unclear if some will be cut before release or perhaps sold later as expansion packs. The game will also include a powerful mix of mission-based and survival Special Ops modes. While the mission-based levels will be designed like the ones made popular in Modern Warfare 2, we're told, the survival maps will have players fighting until they're overcome by increasingly difficult waves of enemies.
While we haven't seen the game in action ourselves, we believe that the imagery is accurate. That doesn't mean things can't change before release.

I personally hate them, just a way to get cheap kills.

I think they are tbh, aslong as theres no danger close style perk i don't really mind though, aslong as they dont bother putting last stand back in.

I think the game will be kind of rushed. You can see some things similar to MW2. Such as the when you're in the speed boat, similar to the one in the level "End game". The hooking up to rappel looks similar, but faster. Along with the whole swimming animations seen and then not long later the mounted gun on the helicopter, previously used in that jeep thing.
However they did work quite well on things that needed it in order for it to be a cool game, such as that building collapsing.
I'm guessing the man in the fog @0:57 to be Price?

this, i think the killstreaks should be put back to the 3,5,7 and the game should concentrate more on how skilled you are with a weapon, rather than the panic knife button or noob tube

In relation to the IGN Rewind video at 2:05 -> 2:10 they mention the "return" of the grenade launcher but this doesn't necessary mean that they'll include it in the online play, does it? They change quite a bit from the single player into multiplayer.

I don't see why it would be unlikely, but I don't see how this guy has the game unless he is an actual tester whos paid. I wouldn't mind if it was, it's quite nice and how it is similar to MW2 means there's more chance it is real as they are clearly cutting corners from the delay of the whole law suit and ****. Also, that music is hot.

A write up of from joystick of 2 levels.
After a two-minute recap montage of everything that's happened thus far in the narratively impenetrable Modern Warfare saga -- wow, I barely remembered any of that! -- two people took the stage. On the left side, standing in front of a giant Infinity Ward logo was Robert Bowling, "creative strategist" at the troubled developer and, obviously, not one of the studio's now-fired founders. On the right side, standing in front of a giant Sledgehammer Games logo, was Glen Schofield, head of the newly formed studio that was originally slated to "extend the franchise into the action-adventure genre." Now, they were both on stage flanking an even larger Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 logo.

Interesting stuff. I think that the announcement trailer was purely intended to make us think it's ghost, when it actually isn't. :P
Edit: Ooo forgot to add, there are concerns about the london level.
We all know how games effect people’s lives in certain ways but sometimes they hit a nerve on subjects that some people wouldn’t dare touch. Activison’s upcoming first person shooter Modern Warfare 3 may have hit that nerve.
In the trailer released on May 23th a scene shows a train derailing and exploding in one of London’s underground tunnels,in response The Daily Mail reported that many UK citizens affected by the 7/7 bombings that hit London in 2003 found it distasteful. Vivienne Pattison, spokesman for campaign group Mediawatch UK, said:
‘I have concerns as these games are hyper-real and take place in a landscape we are familiar with. In light of the fact we have just had the 7/7 inquests, it is in incredibly poor taste.’
This is not the first time Activison and Modern Warfare 3 developers Infinity Ward have popped up on the radar of controversy. In Modern Warfare 2 campaign mission No Russian you controlled a CIA agent disguised as a terrorist killing innocent people in a Russian airport. This led to Infinity Ward inserting the option to skip the mission at the start of the game after the games release.
Website Spong have released what seems to be a statement from Activison about the campaign to ban the game in the UK.
Activision Statement
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a fictional action game aimed at mature adults and set in World War Three. The scenes in the game are entirely fictional and are not intended to recreate any historical events.”

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2011/05/survival-mode-in-call-of-duty-modern-warfare-3/1 - specs ops vaguely detailed. Most important things to pick up on really is the match matching, a separate ranking system and leader boards. Nothing would be better than crappy zombies.
I'll just clear this thread up:
Black Ops is the worst game ever known to man, anyone who plays it deserves to be shoved into the frontline for real. It won't take much to better than pile of tripe but hopefully, this will be good. That said, Battlefield 3 is out this year and that will take a giant metaphorical dump on any other FPS out around Fall.

Also @1:24 you can hear the guy who done Gaz/Ghosts voice, I think it is him anyway saying "friendly predator missle incoming". I wonder if that is just a place holder or if Ghost is back or if he just has a new role altogether (which I think it kind of likely).

Err what.. is that even the 1887's?
That is definitely the 1887 and it is definitely a red dot sight:
Small recap of the trailer
The M16 shown is reminiscent of the one from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
You will be fighting against forces on the ground… as well as forces in the sky, such as helicopters.
You will start out Survival with a certain amount of armor along with your base health.
Extreme Conditioning, Steady Aim, and SitRep all confirmed as perks for Survival, and I’m assuming that means multiplayer as well.
The Model 1887 shown has a red dot sight on it.
The “USAS 12″ is confirmed, and appears to be similar to Modern Warfare 2′s AA-12 shotgun.
You can share money with your teammate at the armory.
Predator missiles are confirmed at least for Spec Ops.
Riot Shields are back in (I hope I’m not the only one who loves this news).
You can call in squads of troops to help you from the Air Support Armory.
Equipment such as claymores are not in the same category as grenades as they were in Modern Warfare 2, although it is unknown if that is going to carry over to multiplayer.
You can throw support markers that can be used as targets for friendly AC-130s.
The explosives on the dogs are still active when they die.
There will be some kind of chemical gas or weapon that can be used against you.

i told myself i wouldn't be getting MW3 and all this tasty information is sucking me right back in :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PF6MnwxNOTA
Detailed analysis
Tbh, I don't even care about graphics anymore, MW2's graphics are still really good, miles better than some other, newer games and the game in general would have been amazing if it didn't have so many problems with it. If they've fixed all the problems, and added some new stuff, then this game could be amazing.
Well spec ops is still only 2 player so there goes that useless distraction once more. Multiplayer hopefully should be what mw2 should have been.

These maps look more like Team Tactical maps atm, attack from one side etc, I've always prefered that in shooting games, especially DoD

Oh right, the armoury markers. I hope they done a variety of maps personally. I want a really decent sniper map but to be honest, it'll just be running and gunning around randomly as per usual.

I liked the size of nuke town, but they should have done the whole street

They need maps which are dark and have a torch as an attachment. OMG I WOULD LOVE THAT SO MUCH, I'd stealth my ass off on that kind of map. Also the ability to get night vision under equipment or something, instead of flashbangs etc. but that would obviously need to be unlocked at a higher level then torches otherwise the torch might aswell not exist. Anyway, no point dreaming as MW3 probably won't have dark maps let alone night vision to any extent.

http://www.mw3info.com/mw3-leaked-perks-and-killstreaks/
so apparantly the perks have been leaked, what do we all think. i know my perk setup will be SoH, Quickdraw and Dead Silence/Stalker, but I think Blind Eye, Assassin and DS is going to be the OP stealth class if this is all true.
Also, this idea about swapping killstreaks for perks is a good idea, but being able to get another three perks at only 6 kills is a bit OP imo, I think you should have to get around 10 kills to get all three

I think these are completely fake as I'm sure it was said no final stand/last stand would return to multiplayer and to be honest most of them don't make sense for example the "stalker" perk, I don't see how the claymore delay is stalker like at all and in my opinion would make more sense on sitrep. However if these are legit, I know the majority of my classes would use blind eye, assassin and sitrep but tbh I think they are fake and is just someone looking to get some views on their site.

I dunno if this is kinda off-topic cos of what people are talking about on the posts above but, I'm really looking forward to MW3! Personally I prefer MW2 to Black Ops and MW to WaW, so if this one lives up to expectations then I'll be completely happy, Spec Ops is returning (thank God) but according to Inside Xbox reporters/interviewers there is gonna be a different way of playing rather than just completing the objective within a certain time limit (I'll post later the differences if I remember to). Multiplayer always appealed to me on MW2 but on Black Ops I just can't move a muscle without dying, maybe it's cos I haven't played black ops online really, although the maps better they don't feel true to the campaign, but MW2 multiplayer seemed to help by giving you alright weapons when you were new (Spas-12, UMP45). I'm not sure but I hope they do it like they used to regarding attachments and cammos because on black ops, for me it doesn't seem to flow. Hopefully quick scoping will return to it's previous glory, because on black ops it wasn't much of a hit, am I right? I feel like I'm ranting and not making a lot of sense here so I'll post this :P

I base most of my tactics around map type, they've changed with every game.
I'm not liking the sound of lightweight being a death streak though

They just earnt themselves some PC player brownie points, although this is no doubt in response to the new counter-strike game (Harder-core PC players would rather spend their money on that if COD doesn't have dedis)
I'm undecided on whether the perks are fake or not. All videos on youtube I watched with details on them have been taken down, and activision put strikes on the channels apparently. But meh, could be absolute **. Theres always a list of perks going around before the game comes out, and they've been fake in the past.
went into my local game shop, not "GAME" btw and yeah i asked the man how long before its released will he get it, he told me around a week before, he told me i can go in and get it then, as i buy alot of games from his shop ect. so i can complete single player before release woop!

Played it at Eurogamer, some co-op. The co-op is like zombies but without the zombies.
Handles the same as the other CoD games, this one is literally only going to be for the storyline and new multiplayer maps.
