Hey,
I understand the V.I.P feature got removed from the forum due to sulake being jealous money hungry monkeys. At the end of the day Donator is basically V.I.P with a few less features. Perhaps now that the hotels have merged and its under new management they won't care if you sell V.I.P.
A few of the best features are becoming very scarce, fair enough you can purchase V.I.P at Christmas but that just happens once a year and event's aren't everyones cup of tea. Without Christmas and the odd event is there really a need for the "view who rep'd you" feature. Don't get me wrong, I would hate to see the feature get removed because it's pretty handy, is there no possible way you could either allow all users to view who rep'd them or just add it to the Donator's feature. I miss the old days when you could just click and buy V.I.P and browse the forum with the features you love. Now days with Donator you can't see who rep'd you and a few other additional features have been removed too.
Maybe habbox management prefer it this way, I don't know. But if not, I'm sure a small public poll or a discussion between yourselves and an email to sulake won't hurt.
Just a suggestion,
Rich.

It's all fine, no need to change it and it would be wrong to change it and scam all the current VIPs who may have bought VIP at Christmas for those features.
Inseriousity.

As comps manager who likes to give out vip, noooooooooo leave it alone.
lol oj, if VIP was brought back I know that Habbo have finally got some common sense but I really doubt 'new management' would really change that rule. Comps would have vip to give out. it's still free so it wouldn't really bother us that much, so yeah I'm all for it, just don't know if the stupid rule's been changed :D

Some people don't like doing competitions, I'm one of them, I like Richie's idea, move the VIP features over to the Donator group.

That defeats the entire point, Donator is not allowed to have ANY features that all other members could have other than "aesthetic" features.
If we did that we might as well bring back VIP. Which, we could try and test the waters about :P

Yes I agree. It is quite a long time since they brought those rules in. Maybe they might be a bit more flexible now. :)

Waiting for a reply in regards of that, although if they are now getting involved with fansites again looking at the Habbo News section then may have a better chance. Hopefully.. :P
But I don't see the point of doing this which will then make VIP look useless and wouldn't really be ideal to use as prizes or anything else. As they can just buy donator with the same amount or near enough the same features. As at the moment there is a gap between donator and VIP features.

If they allow you to sell VIP again, you should have one month where you give out no VIP, then re-release it (probably have to put additional people in place to take care of the new flood), give out VIP less as we did in the past, perhaps even give out donator as prizes and only sell VIP, and then slowly phase out donator in a year or so.

Donator would be a crap prize compared to VIP mind, it is handy having a VIP prize system and VIP is available for enough things for everyone to have a good chance of getting it.
Of course it would be much nicer if we could sell VIP but although we have made contact with Sulake I'm not getting my hopes up, originally when the Hotel merged the premium services clause wasn't under the fansite way, which prompted me to write an email to be sent to Sulake however we never got a reply despite it was sent from the three main Habbox email addresses.
As Matt said, maybe they will reply now they seem to be bothered about fansites again, however I for one am not getting my hopes up.

Would be wound up if everyone was allowed to see who repped them - as that is a big selling point for me. I love the fact people don't like -repping because you can see their name
Woulod love VIP to be sold all the time though and it would surely benefit habbox.

It is still not permitted in the "Fansite Way" outlined on the group page (http://www.habbo.com/groups/fansites).
HABBO FANSITES MUST NOT:
* Offer Hacking, Scripting or Editing Programs.
* Publish any unreleased news regarding updates, new furni or features without Sulake's prior permission.
* Ask visitors for their Habbo passwords or personal information such as telephone numbers or home address.
* Charge users for premium services such as VIP access.
* Act as an affiliate for a commercial entity, nor offer merchandise (including Habbo furni) or services for sale.
* Offer to buy, sell or trade Habbo accounts for real money or Habbo Credits.
* Break the law or talk others into breaking it.
* Publish any material which may be offensive to other users or contains sexual content.
* Publish any personal information, pictures, video or documents belonging to Sulake Corporation Oy or its employees.
* Use slander or any other form of bullying in order to harass other people.
* Disrupt the operation of any other fansite nor disrupt the Hotel community.
* Replicate any part of the Habbo Hotel service ('Retro' Hotels, Habbo Home clones etc).
* Operate a Radio service that broadcasts music illegally.
* Represent that your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy or that any other content on your site is approved by or affiliated with Sulake Corporation Oy.
I don't see the point in having discussions where people are just saying break the rules they wont care, because they will. It's not worth risking it all, and I'm sure Habbox Management wouldn't do something as foolish. Habbo is definietly moving away from fansites and would no doubt (in my eyes) love to chuck a few names off the list for rule breaking.

Would be interested to see how many people come across us thanks to the one benefit of being "official"..

Being official or not official, we would still have to follow the same rules or Sulake could do a lot more to make sure we did follow them. If they wanted to do that and be harsh if we actually sold VIP right now out of the blue without even asking them.

And you really believe Sulake would do anything to you? If it wasn't fo Habbox I for one with have stopped playing Habbo two/three years before I did (and in the first year, I was still buying habbo credits through them). They would be making a massive mistake to do anything to you.

I'm not Sulake, they can do what they please. If they didn't really care about the fansites then I suppose they would If they really didn't like what we did. But is it worth the risk? :P

That defeats the entire point, Donator is not allowed to have ANY features that all other members could have other than "aesthetic" features.
People reaching the level "Habbox God" have all or most of the permissions that VIPs have if I recall correctly (certainly they can view who's repped them at least) so technically all other members could have those features and if that's the wording then we wouldn't be going against Sulake policy *+*struts through loophole*+*
I still think if we want to have VIP we should implement it as buying a raffle ticket which has the chance to win VIP for whatever the price of VIP is meant to be, but have it so that every ticket is a winner. This is 100% legal even if Sulake enforce their no VIP sale rules - it's a trick that many events like school fayres and such use in order to "sell" a beer to the dads without an alcohol licence

Near enough everyone who comes here does so from Habbo, so it's not like we're producing a new era of Habbo users :P I don't think the possible revenue loss from Hx going down would do anything significant to a company like Sulake

We recieved an email from Sulake yesterday clarifying some of these rules, it's the same as we've heard before:
You may not sell anything to your users, however you may reward donations with aesthetic privelidges only which we class as name colour and signature sizes
They did however inform us that the fansite rules will be under scrutiny in the next few months and changes may occur.

I suppose we'll just have to wait and see then. At least they're bothering to go over them, it's nice to know they're going to be involving fansites again like they did a few years ago :)

-random crap-
Loopholes don't work when it comes to intellectual property, they've put out the rules but they can pull down anything they want so being a smart-arse about it isn't practical nor useful.

Lets hope they actually use some common sense.
I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed to sell VIP? I mean yes - it's useful to have it for prizes - but if you could sell it surely a lot of people would buy it?
It's not like Sulake are losing out.

Well, their theory is yhat if we stopped buying vip we would buy credits on their game. Despite the fact that most the users who bought vip, and buy donator now don't even play the game..

now don't even play the game..
Statistically habbox should just become x and remove all the habbo crap and then we can have donator back... -sighs-
I can always dream. But hopefully habbo will try to bring back the old habbo fansite spirit that used to be so great, it's all gone downhill since the loss of geocities though..

Did you just decide not to read any of my post other than the word loophole? I quite clearly stated that if the quoted piece was what we've been told, we'd be doing no wrong by making certain changes - fairly sure that doing nothing wrong isn't the same as recklessly breaking IP laws. It's nothing to do with being a smart-arse, it's to do with working a simple solution to a problem
As for your above suggestion of getting rid of "all the habbo crap", good plan if you want the entire site to collapse. Where do you think we get our members from?

It is doing alright, but the thing is it doesn't make as much as VIP does.
Although it is nice having VIP exclusively at Habbox, it isn't nice for Habboxs server bills.

Because you made the assumption that Habbo cannot legally send a take down notice without any justification, it's their brand, imagery etc. they can do that if they want. I was pointing out the fact that you were suggesting using loopholes in a non-legally binding contract and therefore were not contributing anything.
