Why are these two games always inter-linked somehow? When people are talking about the Habbo economy some how Runescape is always close to follow. Other than both of them being browser games, how are the two interlinked? It seems like they're almost a bridge for one another... What is your opinion on the Habbo and Runescape relationship? Which do you prefer?

I myself played Runescape back when I was just a lad, but I didn't know it even existed until I started playing Habbo again a few months ago. I was surprised at how far Jagex has actually built Runescape. Although I just recently tried to play it again, but it's even worse than Habbo when it comes to kids with bad grammar and exceedingly rude people every inch. The game itself seems nice and all, but I'd much rather keep to Habbo, at least some people on Habbo are legitimate and nice.

Plus, if I was going to get into an MMORPG again I'd much rather it be an old-school one with crappy graphics. :D (Like the first Everquest, lol)

i dont think you can compare the two because they are too different, and if you look, i think about 10,000 people are on RS at one time same as habbo, young kids start on one of them and hear of the other because both are popular with younger people and then in turn play both. Simples

Same, you can't really compare the two games as they have a different concept. For exmaple you could link World of Warcraft to Runescape as some may say they do not have totally different concepts behind the game. People talk about the games for example Runescape while playing Habbo as its easier to become more richer on the game for example. Say I quite runescape to play Habbo I could get some thrones with my runescape coins.

I think rs has crappy graphics compared to most mmos :P

Well the reason that they are interlinked is that they have the same type of users.

10-19 year olds who want to play free online multiplayer games that require no downloading and no monthly fees.

Inseriousity.

I think it's just cos they're two popular online games.

It's a bit like ClubHabbo and Habbox. They're completely different but because they're both considered to be the top (let's not get into this debate lol), they're always being compared against each other.

There's a lot of other popular MMORPGs out there though and it seems RuneScape and Habbo are like peanut butter and jelly. If you say something about one of them, the other is eventually going to rear it's head.

Also, I didn't say anything about comparing the games. I asked what your opinion was about their relationship and why you thought people always bring up either or in the conversation about one of them. xD

To be fair I reckon the main reason is they're both free (to an extent) to play.

Well if we look at forum stats, we can see easily who has the best and most active forum ;) ("cough" Habbox)

Yep this is one of the main ones as i said earlier. For example wow has a older playerbase mainly since it's a pay monthly game.

To be honest I don't think there is much of a link, that's not to say there isn't people who have played both but I don't think that many have.

For instance Habbo seems a more female orientated game, whilst Runescape is male to say the least.

So, what you're saying is that proper merchanting and economical buying in Habbo is not work? Comparing that to the repetitious grind of RuneScape, I would say Habbo requires more research and intelligence to procure wealth.

Although I'm a tad biased, I don't really play Runescape. :D

Habbo doesnt require research lol? you dont go reading books about how to get rich on habbo unless your one of them noobs who buys a get rich habbo guide off ebay, On habbo the main aim is to meet new people furni on habbo is a bonus tbh, Where as rs its actually built to work towards something (skills) and getting rich to buy better items & put towards skills. habbo has no skills to work towards except getting rich but even then you don't work towards it its something you do as you go along or you buy it. Which is why this "discussion" is stupid imo as they are 2 completely different games habbo is a chatroom and rs is a mmo whtever the hell it is.

I never was comparing the games, lol. This discussion is about their relationship, not their comparison. I would appreciate you reading through the forum before you post in the thread, but that--of course--is not up to me I can't stop you from posting anything.

Also, if you want to make it "big" in Habbo it does require research of rare values and what is popular today might not be popular tomorrow. Like the values on HCs for example, they've been a steady 1-2c for awhile now, you can buy large bulk from people for 1c/ea and sell them to casino owners or club owners who need HCs for their rooms for 1.5-2c/ea and make a large profit margin. The same holds true with dragons, their price seems to fluctuate on how many are actually in circulation and not sitting in peoples storages/game rooms. So in this theory, Habbo does require research if you want to get rich at merchanting, of course there are other ways of getting rich in Habbo--like just buying your wealth--but, I've never paid a cent for Habbo, and never will, thanks to the keen powers of buying low and selling high!
