So basically we're just starting out as a freeforum for the first month with no advertising- then we plan on upgrading to a .com, phpBB premo, and copywrite removal to get things in full swing.

We plan on letting the community decide everything from which expansions come first, which things must go, the look and layout of the site, the site banner, even what competitions are released.

We're even going to let the community decide the domain name for .com release when the time comes! Because www.GfxEffects.com (http://www.GfxEffects.com) is taken.

We will release battles, points systems, ranking, and more in the near future- its up to YOU to decide!

Good luck but all of the things you mentioned as an 'upgrade' would set you back no more than £6! I would seriously consider putting a little in to be able to get a lot out again.

Other than that I'm not sold on the Viewtiful Joe/Script Text logo... but it's a matter of taste!

yeah, I think I mentioned that I'm going to purchase the domain name, premium phpbb forum support and eventually advance hosting which is about $80-100 CAD. dont know how many pounds or euros that is xD

lol and we just got that banner as a temp. we're going to get the community to decide the domain, the banner (competition) and even the layout, design, and what features come and go :D

also adding a ranking system seperate for artists, musicians, and graphic artists as soon as the demand becomes enough (H)

You say it's for gfx and stuff but the logo isn't reflective of this, it looks like you got a picture and just plonked text over it, the forum is hard to navigate too. I won't be registering, sorry, good luck though.

i agree. It is hard to navigate. Try using mybb? phpBB just looks like a mess and all over the place

the banner i made myself in like 5 seconds just modified how his cape looks nothing special, its temporary til we have a banner comp and we have some really skilled designers (if you would even look at the site but becuz of the banner that wont happen)

and myBB SUCKS lol im getting a .com domain name and premium hosting and eventually advanced hosting with FTP access so yah i dont want ads im not even recieving money for on my forum k thanks and the software is garbage. same withe the layouts they look like the worst freeforums ive seen id rather go invisionfree.

If I'm being honest, I couldn't agree more. I know you said it's temporary however even so, for a GFX website and whatnot it really doesn't reflect it through the design of the website. Good luck with it though, hope it all goes well!

[Suspective]

Even if it is only temporary, first impressions count a lot and if you are advertising for members to sign up then it needs to be at least half-decent in order to attract a good userbase.

The problems aren't that big, just have a go at tweaking the forum and maybe switch to myBB as suggested - as I can promise you the interface is much more advanced. The concept however is good, and with a bit of work there is no reason why it won't become an active forum ;)

we started with a user base of veterand from another site so we're pretty much set. and MYBB SUCKS LOL we believe in an ad-free policy. There is nothing different than myBB becuzz we are going upgrade to FTP hosting which is WAY better then myBB- because myBB sucks.

and new members want things to do on the site.. what about having a banner competition?
which we are going to do. and with our base of vet. gfxers I think we'll have no problem finding a suitable banner.

Looks like over kill with Photoshop effects to me and what's more they're not even transparent properly.

The forum looks sloppy, with all the different styles of graphics.

Take a leaf from: http://beatcontrol.me/ 's book, the forum is uniform and the styling is all the same with no stupid reflections or a cartoon character that shouldn't be there, oh and like font size 7px text that's disgusting and hard to read.

Everything about your site puts me off, including your stinkin' attitude. HMF.

Honestly could not agree more with you Myke. The thing is Matt, the website is supposed to be a GFX forum yet it shows little if any actual DECENT graphics, wich you would actually expect to see when visiting a website GFX related. Your banner is still awful, the text on it is too small and could be hard to read for some people and the colour scheme doesn't work well. Instead of arguing with people on this forum, why don't you take the time out to listen to the people who are trying to help you make your website better for everyone, including yourself.

If I visited your website for the first time I would be driven away immediately because it doesn't look of professional quality, which again, is what you'd expect from a GFX website/forum.
