View Full Version : Spoilers?

Could we have a nicer spoiler, maybe a different one on each style? I'm not sure on any ideas for the design of it but the current one with a black border is horrible and doesn't go with the styles at all.

It does seem a bit basic... Perhaps someone could look into jazzing it up? It could follow the same principles as the moderator warning box, except it blends in more with the post area.

Agreed, maybe some rounded edges? That would be nice.

Perhaps a similar style to the quote boxes and style the spoiler button too.

They've never really bugged me that much in how they look but I don't think it would hurt to see if we can get different styles for different skins. I like the idea of having rounded edges, would make them look a tad nicer and not so blocky.

I don't think the spoilers are that bad, I hardly ever see them.

Different styles wouldn't hurt, but would rather it wasn't a 'top' priority right now.

I think updating the spoilers is definitely something to consider, as Milestone said not a priority but definitely a possibility and something I'm sure we'll look into when we get round to it :)

Why do you need to prioritise such trivial tasks? Reskinning Spoilers is a quick and simple job any forum technician should be capable of.

As said before, we don't currently have a specific forum technician and the person who would do this for us (and I'm sure they'd do it now if I asked) has a lot on at the moment therefore I'm not willing to add menial tasks to their workload immediately for something which doesn't really matter.

I'd say something like this would be ok:
(Obviously colour can be changed + maybe different for each theme).

And this is exactly why a forum technician needs finding ASAP.

We have explained to you in other threads that you cannot just give those sort of powers out willy nilly, we have someone for the job but they will not be taking it on until they can. It's not why a forum technician needs finding ASAP, it's a menial task - who cares if the spoiler tags change tomorrow or next month - the forum gets fixed when it's broken and that's the most important thing. Our tech hands are all on Habbox.com at the moment and that's where they should be.

The forum shouldn't BE breaking in the first place. Off topic but 1. which gets more hits, HXF or Hx? 2. Where's the community?

I know you've explained it before, but if someone cannot start the job for 6 months you find someone else in the mean time, it's ridiculous you have a thriving community on software not one of the "staff" members can support.

Forum Technician or no Forum Technician, Jin is the only person that will fix the forums major problems, a Forum Technician would be there to assist with menial tasks like this, their more important roles for us involve skinning and implementing any changes requested by Forum Management. A forum technician would not be used to fix the forum apart from for minor things such as database errors which Matt and I can fix anyway.

One, they were happening every few hours a few weeks ago. You are starting to become off topic now, if you have further comments to make about the forum technical problems please take them over to the thread that is designated for that purpose and I am sure Jin will reply when he gets a minute.

He's not becoming off topic at all, you're attempting to close the discussion which makes Jin and the forum staffers look bad, which quite frankly they already do. If they can't handle the most basic of tasks, fire them.

Forum Managers have never been hired based on technical aspects, they have always been hired based on their moderation skills and community involvement which is important for a Forum Manager. The use of admin control panel develops as you use it and our current Forum Manager and all past Forum Management have been quite good at doing the tasks they are required to do on ACP. I could probably attempt to alter the spoilers myself however I'm incredibly busy, this is the downside of not having a tech hand for the forum however only over the past year did we get used to having a tech hand as it's only over the past year that we've started altering such things based on user feedback, before this things were implemented based on the opinion of the Habbox Owners (as they would be the ones doing the implementation). It is handy to have someone to do techy things around the forum and Jamesy highlighted himself that the jobs of Forum Manager and forum techie are too much together, therefore I realise the need for a forum technician but equally I'm not gonna go "oi you come here you can be an admin".

No one said anything about the forum manager doing these jobs. Being able to click some links is far from what a Forum Technician needs to be able to do, they need to be able to work directly with the PHP code and progress the forum in terms of customisation and optimisation.

Yet again this thread will probably join the ranks of other totally legitimate threads that you'll close because we point out a flaw in the system which you dislike.

Not really Tom, AB criticised forum staff for not being able to do "simple tasks" - none of our forum team are inadequate. I have said it is not ideal not having a forum techie but it's not a major problem and we aren't going to chuck admin to some randomer. It takes time to earn trust at Habbox, the sort of access you'd give to a forum techie isn't something that should be given out lightly as it could do a lot of damage.

Haven't had an error for days and quite honestly this thread just seems to have turned into an excuse to have a go at staff. If there was a real problem then the whole forum would be up in arms not just a selected few who seem to have other agendas. The role of forum technician is one which requires extreme trust and loyalty & positive attitude to Habbox which as Hecktix has already said needs to be carefully considered as that person could create chaos with the tools they would be given.

It shouldn't be happening at all and don't be so proud that Habbox didn't error for a couple of days, wait for it to reach months that's where it should be.

Seeing as this thread has just turned into a bit of a rant and a moan about forum errors I shall close it. I will take a look into what we can do with spoilers but it isn't something that is at the top of my list at the moment.

If you want to discuss errors then discuss them here (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=688789). They don't need to be brought up in every other thread.
