Hey, I've been thinking, the user rank, should also be increased by the amount of time you've been here, because there isn't much that apreciates users who have been here for years, Yeh, theres VIP if you've been here for five years, but that's it. I mean, 5 years is a long time to stay dedicated to a forum, surely members who have been here longer should get recognised some more, or atleast receive benefits.

Hmmm, hard to say what I think. If you're dedicated, a good reward is being noticed by the members and a badge doesn't mean anything when you've got members recognising you as a decent contributor to the community.

You can't really put a system in place to decide who is dedicated to the community, as it'll become complicated. So not sure what to say, unless you can come up with some suggestions?

Something like, the user rank is calculated by the amount of days registered on the forum, the rep, and the amount of posts, it would be more accurate.

Hmmm, it's not too far off that already. MissAlice, who is dedicated to Habbox, has a low post count but her motto "quality is better than quantity" kinda ruins the system of post count, rep and days registered. It would be difficult to make a system, when an automatic system lacks opinion - it can't determine how amazing an individual is :P

The current user rank system depends on days registered and post count. I think it either goes up to 360 or 720 days - I think it would be harsh to increase this as it'd strip some users of their rank. Although to be honest I find that platinum members tend to have been here for at least 3 years.

There's also the rep system influenced by years registered - the 'rep' system would make sense to be used here if you are talking about recognition, rep count raises one for every year here - so people like MissAlice as Gomme mentioned, low post count but higher rep power.

I think the 5+ year awards could be jazzed up a bit,

Three months of vip is a little stingy, no offence. Someone who has stuck around and supported the site for that long deserves a little more. I don't mean more vip, maybe some additional features that others can't access.

Agreed ;)

agreed x 2, i mentioned something in the "donator colours" thread about perhaps introducing a silver, bronze and a platinum. because there are people coming up to 7 years here now and have done with all the gold stuff.

Maybe if you've been here either 4,5 or 6 years you could have access to bigger avatars and signatures? or custom user titles? that'd be good. and I think that members who have been here 6, 7 years should get special VIP aswell as 5 years, I mean, 6,7 years is a long time to stay active on a forum. There should be more incentive.

I think it's fine as it is really. If you want a special rank then just get 20,000 posts n00bs!

Just give everyone who has been on 5 years a gold anniversary VIP award along with their vip or something

To clarify, no users have over 10k posts who have not been here for at least 3 years. The shortest is about 3 years 8 months or so.

I've been on this forum nearly '5 years' and i don't deserve 3 months VIP, or whatever the prize is, so maybe, just maybe, THE SYSTEM IS FLAWED.
But tbh, who really cares about the titles you have on a forum?

It'll only be my 3rd year in August ;[

VIP for 1/20 of the time they've spent on the forum ain't bad considering there are other ways to get VIP but a five year member lounge would be pretty snazzy.

Perhaps a forum where they get to talk with managers at habbox (past and present).

That would be a good reward for those who have been around for so long.

I think the idea of incorporating, not necessarily post count, but activeness into it would be worth thinking about, because there are people who've been here half the time i have and are much more deserving of these benefits than I

It would be epic, except I wouldn't get a look in for another 14 months even though it's my idea :(

There was a Habbox Merit forum? :O

Not sure what to think of with a special 5yr + forum, would it be used? You could try it out and see what happens.

Surely it'd be used just as much as the VIP forum is now - there wouldn't be anything that needs to be discussed by older members alone so all ~(+RaNdOM*+* conversation would still be in spam

The Don
02-03-2011, 02:43 PM
The VIP forum is hardly used now because the only way usually to get VIP is to win it, so there aren't that many users who have access to it. However, there are quite a fair few members who have been here for 5+ years so I think it would be wise to do this. Surely GM could give it a trial run to see how it goes.

Yayyyy a forum for people who've been here 5+years where we can ***** about the new memebers without them knowing. I just don't see the point in a section just for us :P
Although it would be nice to see something brought in for people who have been active for say 3+years.

One of the risks if a forum was to be created. The forum would just be pointless if it's going to be dead within weeks or even a month really :(

I don't know about what you would use for more rewards, but should it really just all rely on you being here 5 years, yeah most people who get the Anniversary VIP are still active, but whats to stop someone randomly coming back after 5 years, having 1 post and asking for the VIP and these new features? Maybe the system could be changed?

Like on Habbo you earn achievements for like logging in everyday, maybe we could base it around something like that. Maybe loosen it up a bit, as i doubt we'd have anyone who'd logged on every day for 5 years. But you know what i mean, think of different ways to reward the more dedicated users.

No one is going to take them seriously though. If they're practically unknown, then they will remain so. The extra features won't really boost their ego, they'll be considered a nobody :P

Exactly, it doesnt matter if they come back after five years or whatever, it shouldn't stop people who have been here five years continuously or more receiving these benefits. It doesn't have to be say 5 years, but like maybe four?

Danube, you said it should be based on logging in or whatever, I dislike this idea, the fact that someone has been commited to the forum for 4,5, 6 and some people are almost 7 years, should receive some more incentive for staying or whatever. That is a REALLY long time to remain on a habbo forum, heck, a lot of us don't even play habbo and still come here. I still think that people who have been here longer should get some benefits similar to those who post loads.

Although it would be nice, I can't understand how a system like such can be put in place. After all, you already get rep power and ultimately VIP so what more can you give them. Oh and you've also got the six forum awards!

It's difficult to award things on forums, because what realistically can you reward them.

You keep going on about benefits but what realistically can you benefit them with. I don't think you could use user ranks are they're used to help promote posting rather than represent registry date.

Also the fact they're staying shows the forum must be doing something right, a few years ago there was nothing!

Eoin247
02-03-2011, 06:24 PM
Giving rewards for actual time spent on the forum might also be a good idea as it would encourage people to use it more. The more rewards for more things the better i suppose :P

I don't think you got what i meant, i was only really using logging in as an example. What i meant was, it shouldn't SOLELY be on how long you have been a member of the forum for, it should be a factor of it but other factors should be included too. Because if we brought in some new features then there would have to be a way of defining who gets them and who doesn't and i think it should be done on a variety of factors, rather than just how old their account is. I mean i joined in 2007, but i left for around 2 years at the end of 2008, so i've really only been active on the forum for about 2 years in total, but yet my account is alot older. There are others who have been active since the day of their account was made. This is what i meant by bringing in other factors, as getting special features for being dedicated to Habboxforum should be a really hard thing to achieve but still kinda be achievable. It needs to be really exclusive, or there is not point in it.

I don't think we should let avatars and signatures get any bigger because it's going to get to the point where they are so big that they are just in your face and annoying. I'm sure we can find some more rewarding things than that too!

Not a fan of having a seperate forum idea as I think it will die quite quickly to be perfectly honest, it would also be hard to moderate and take away from other sections of the forum that everyone can see.

most of people who have been here 5+ years (such as myself), would agree that a separate forum would be a fail as we've seen it done so often in the past.

I think while it would be nice to have some sort of 'reward' to sort of show our 'dedication' or w/e, at the same time, it's not like we've really done anything to be rewarded, all we've just signed up five years ago and have been active ever since.
Maybe like on your accounts 'birthday' just have a month of a specific coloured VIP. Say give it to accounts who are three years or older, and have different colours for however many years the user has been on here.

Stephen

a good reward would be letting them go invisible :D:D:D I'll stay another 10 years after the 28th dec if you do that

or give them a special userbar or something like that but let them be able to turn it on or off (dunno if you can do that but whatever)
