Just wondered what you make of this.

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/18484185/Life-On-Mars-Series-1-2-Box-Set/Product.html?searchstring=life+on+mars&searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&urlrefer=search

I ordered the complete life on mars box set on 21/12/2010 - it was for a Christmas present for a relative that was visiting mid January and so I believed It would have plenty of time to be dispatched and arrive.

The DVD arrived today 28/02/11 - Yet the page claimed 1-2 weeks delivery and there was nothing stating it was out of stock even after purchasing. It was also coming via Play.com and not it's Play Trade centre.

I obviously rang up a while back and got told nothing, they couldn't give me a date or anything. I was about to cancel it the other day when I finally got an email saying it had been dispatched. I waited for it to arrive before complaining and have now written an email to them.

I really love Play.com but it really annoyed me that within the months of waiting they didn't at one point contact me to let me know there was any delays. It does also put me off ordering from them again.

I had the same problem, was pretty disappointed. The family member had to wait a few weeks after Christmas for their gift, which was embarrassing.

Yeah if it was a week or two I wouldn't have minded, but we've waited at least 2 whole months without any contact from them

In these few months after Christmas I have ordered a number of things from play.com and have had no problem with them

Sometimes play.com say that they have the certain item in stock yet they still have to get it from somewhere else, this has happened to me on a couple of occasions. 2 months is still a pretty long time to wait, send an email to complain or something, I would.

Play.com are horrible. I never use them.

I think they are good and this is the first problem I have had but it does put me off ordering from them. The fact they haven't properly read my email is also very annoying.

I really wish my local HMV was larger - I do like going in, buying a dvd and getting it right there and then.

I've only had one problem and that was with operation flash point. pretty glad because it was shocking.

Everything else (300+ items) has been on time or early

Oh that is nothing.

My dad ordered a CD, forgot about ordering it, checked it in DECEMBER (after ordering it in FEBRUARY) and it said 'Waiting for stock' or something.

I assume they just weren't planning on stocking it again, sorry for you though mate - it is stupid it hasn't arrived (or only just has if it has)

I've never, EVER had a problem with Play.com. Always had the delivery on time. Plus, if you wanted it for Christmas, you REALLY shouldn't have ordered it on the 21st December - no post for a week which means they wouldn't get stock and plus they'd end up being backlogged so they'd probably get out what they have in stock first. Also, usually when it says 1-2 weeks, it's an estimate - if I order something that is out of stock, I never expect it to be as said, purely due to the fact that it's out of stock for a reason and that reason is probably high demand.

Hi. I ordered it so it would arrive in Mid January, and also there was nothing on the page stating it was out of stock.

Amazon are preferable. Nearly always cheaper and they also do free delivery.
