Hey, not sure if this is the right section..

Recently, i turned 18 and my Dad being the slob he is kicked me out. Resulting in me being homeless, with no immediate family living even remotely close to me. So currently im living at a friends house. Im in full time education atm (college).

Basically, to all the older people here, im confused. Im putting in a claim for Income Support so that i become able to get LHA (Local Housing Allowance). This is just for the duration of time i am at college. My question is that, is Income Support and LHA managed by your local council? Im confused i really dont know anything about this stuff. Because i currently reside in the 'Bristol City Council' area and the place where i will be renting is in the 'South Gloucester Council' area. So if it IS managed by the council, then BCC will be providing my Income Support which means i cant move to SGC without hassle? :L

Long winded and hard to explain, but i cant seem to find anything online and i dont like ringing them up with stupid questions.

The best thing you could do is go into the local BCC offices and just ask them about it. They know what they're doing (hopefully) and will know how to help you and direct you in the right direction.

it isn't a stupid question, and i'm sure they'd prefer you calling them to get confirmation in regards to your issue opposed to asking teenagers who are not 100% sure but rather guessing and then having the odd person talking from experience (who may or may not exist)

I know the answer

Income support is available if you apply before your 19th birthday and have been forcefully estranged from your parents (ie: kicked out.) Normally it isn't given to those in full time education, but I reckon they'll give you it.

South gloucester area eh? Welcome to the craphole gloucester then.

I thought the local jobcenter could help you out with this stuff? As they deal with income support and other things aswell as JSA

This is 100% correct I think. Got to Citizens Advice Bureau, Local Council Office and local DWP office and they will advise.
