View Full Version : Reporting rep feedback

Okay, so I like the new private reporting rep idea, but I think that there is one thing that could be done.
I think that like infractions, there should be a quick comment to say "unfair rep - removed" or "fair rep - you posted offensively" or whatever. It just gives us an insight into what type of rep is removed, because I'm still never sure whether some -reps are legible to be removed. And then we won't post for that type of rep again.
It's quite a quick and easy thing to implement as far as I can see. So comments/thoughts?

It does say in the thread that if your rep doesn't get removed that you are more than welcome to PM me to ask why. I have a lot of things to do and I think it's easier for me if you guys PM me if you have a query about your rep rather than me telling you why it has/has not been removed with the possibility that you may not even want to know why.

But you do it for infractions? I think it should be the same policy for both tbh. I don't mind which (and to be fair I didn't know about PMing you) but I think both of them need the same policy.

Nicola's just said that if you pm her she is more than willing to explain why to you. It's less time consuming if she only has to do if for a smaller variety of people then she can focus on other things. Why do both of them need the same policy? what good will that do? Don't forget, staff here are volunteers, they also have lives, and they certainly don't have to answer themselves to us. I think majority of people can tell when a rep should or shouldn't be deleted anyway.

I think normally when it's rejected the person will know why and will have just submitted in case Nicola was feeling generous, in all other cases they can just PM Nicola.

It's slightly different for infractions. When you are reporting an infraction it's about something you have done wrong and been punished for, you are enquiring as to what you have done wrong and you don't agree with it.
You don't really need an explanation as to why the rep you reported was removed because if it has been removed then it's obvious I agree with you. If it doesn't get removed then you can PM me to find out why. It isn't necessary for me to go editing every post explaining why it has been removed when it is obvious why it has been removed! It is quicker and easier for me to use the current system as it works fine.

Hm okay fair enough.
I actually agree with Robbie here. I think if the rep isn't going to be removed there should be a message which states why. I'd imagine most people would want to know why it's not being removed if that was the case? You also say that an infraction is for something you've done wrong and being punished etc. but isn't that what negative rep is? If a user A feels user B has done something wrong/something user A disagrees with, user B can be repped negatively?

If it hasn't been removed, then obviously nicola agrees with the rep, hence why it hasn't been removed. If you really don't understand why she hasn't removed it, pm her. It's just a not needed extra work load.

There should be an explanation to why it hasn't been removed
There shouldn't be an explanation to why it got removed
If you done it like that, it wouldn't be much hassle, what are the odds of actually reporting a -rep and it not getting removed? very slim. The only problem with not getting a reply if the -rep was fair is, members wouldn't know if you looked at the thread or not.

A lot more rep is reported than infractions, therefore it makes sense to have the system to PM Nicola if you want to know why that way she isn't doing any unnecessary work.
