Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWPkJD0YHeM
Plot:
For years, there have been documented cases of UFO sightings around the world - Buenos Aires, Seoul, France, Germany, China. But in 2011, what were once just sightings will become a terrifying reality when Earth is attacked by unknown forces. As people everywhere watch the world's great cities fall, Los Angeles becomes the last stand for mankind in a battle no one expected. It's up to a Marine Staff Sergeant (Aaron Eckhart) and his new platoon to draw a line in the sand as they take on an enemy unlike any they've ever encountered before.
Seen the trailer in the cinemas. This film is right up my street and I will be watching this when it gets released on 11th March.

This is right up my street aswell. Really looking forward to it I just hope it doesn't do a cloverfield and we can't actually see what is attacking Earth.

Well I was talking to my mate in the Cinema whilst viewing the trailer and he did mention something about not actually seeing what's attacking, but I think it's made clear that they are "unknown forces" and I think I can recall seeing a terminator-like monster in the trailer, haha.
i reckon the not seeing part is a feature of the trailer as that usually spoils some surprise element

I watched this last night and I must say, I really enjoyed it. It did seem like they were trying to recruit people for the us army with some parts of it and the girl (latina one) did my head in filling the sterotypical role of the hard woman.
Oh and guys, you do see whats attacking.

Just came back from the first showing this morning, really, really good film. It almost tops if not is on par with Independence day.

That's not much of a compliment.

You're entitled to your opinion, but yes, I disagree, as would a lot of people. The film is looked down on, as is its director, Roland Emmerich., who is widely considered to be a Michael Bay-grade hack.

We don't follow any trends. And I cannot stand Ebert.

Misawa i'm not sure what you mean by looked down upon by many, from my understanding Independence day is considered as one of the greats and a true classic.

Then you have indeed misunderstood, sorry. Still, it has what could be defined as two classic scenes, but you'd be extremely hard-pressed to find anyone who regards it as an "all-time great".

I've got to agree with misawa, i saw it last week. and alough i thoroughly enjoyed it as a cinema flick and enjoyed the story.
It was no where near a classic or the best i've seen in my life.
However i would recommend it to anyone who was curious about watching it :D
