View Full Version : Best video editing software? REP+11
I need a really good professional video editing software that's reasonably easy to use. The cost isn't a issue.
I'm wanting to put together a lot of photos and short video clips and want some nice effects to go with it, not necessarily included in the software but are able to download as add-ons.
Thank you!

I know Sony Vegas is good, but its pricy...
Although windows movie maker is free and its alrighty and if you learn how to use it really well, you can do some really cool stuff :)

I personally use Sony Vegas Pro 8, and its good. Its relatively simple to use, and I think it works really well.
You've also got things like Adobe Premiere and Adobe Final Cut.. :)

Camtasia Studio is probably the easiest to use as a professional editing software. It comes with its on on screen recorder and sound recording programme too.
Plus its free, if you know where to get it from. haha.

Yeah. I use camtasia for screen recording as it is by far the best I can find, and use Vegas to edit :)

Sony vegas is still the top video editing program. I personally like camtasia studio, it doesn't have as many features but it does the job for me :).
I was going to suggest Vegas and Camtasia for screen recording. Both by far the easiest to use :)

If your wanting professional at the top level there are really two main ones used in both TV and Film Productions
These are Avid and Final Cut Pro
Final Cut Pro is said to be a lot more easier, and while Avid was once at the top, a lot of people turned to Final Cut Pro. The downside is its only Mac compatible and I'm not sure what operating system you are based on.
Avid Media Composer is one of the first and most popular editors. As said it is often fighting for top spot with final cut. It's a bit like the Intel/AMD debates - you'll find mixed reviews some preferring one to another. Avid can appear to have a steeper learning curve at times, but you can get hold of guides. It is also compatible for both Windows and Macs.
If you ever did fancy being a professional film/tv editor (not saying you do want to) then being able to use both Avid and Final cut is a definite yes.

He asked for the best. I gave him what I believe to be the best. oveer all.
He didn't tell us the platform, so I gave my personal favourite.

Yeah that's why I mentioned both final cut and avid - as one is mac and one is mac and windows.
The user should have stated his operating system really.
I have both platforms don't worry :P
