Hi,
Ive setup .htaccess to password protect directories, only problem is, when i got to the actual url of a file into the directory, it doesnt ask for a user or pass...
Is there a way to password protect EVERYTHING within the directory?
Thanks, Lewis.
+REP for any help

Edit:
I found out that the files within the directory are protected.
Now, internet explorer & google chrome are only asking for a password when im try to access the directory & giving me direct access to the file if i have the actual url of the file...
sorry about double post, maybe an admin should change the edit time from 15 mins to an hour?
Lew.
AuthType BasicAuthName "NO ENTRY"
AuthUserFile "/home/****/.htpasswds/public_html/includes/passwd"require valid-user
Put that in a htaccess file, and obviously create the password file etc, then put it in the directory you want to protect

Ive already done that. It may just be a bug with GC & IE?
Lew.
Nope, works fine for me..
May be your host?
Have you not got cPanel? You can do it automatically in there

It's a server side thing, no bug with any browsers.

Ahh, I think I know why it wasnt asking for a PW, cos Ive put "Require user admin anotheruser" so if im already authenticated on the admin, it wont ask me :)
Thanks, Lew.
