I'm sure I'm having a sense of de ja vu?
Anyway, I definitely remember making a thread saying the daily rep limit is stupid and then the rep system was changed so you can only rep someone once a week.
But there is still a limit on how much rep you can give per day? That's stupid :@. It's not like before where you had to rep 15 or 20 posts or whatever to rep someone again so you could just rep random posts so you can rep your mate again, you still have to wait a week regardless, so why is it still in?
Annoyed much.

as if theres that many good posts on this forum per day
there is a point on the limit, rep becomes worthless if it's given out too much. which obviously yr doing, you don't need to rep THAT many times a day. surely to god.

I was repping as a thank you. Stop trolling.
I just think what's the point? It was originally to prevent people spam-repping so they can rep all their mates again and again but now they can't do that so it has no point.

No the amount of people is totally fair, I rep about 1-3 people a day, max. The majority of the users here only rep a couple of times a day and it just makes rep worthless (well, more worthless than something without a value is anyway).

Bethie isn't trolling she's making the exact point that illustrates why this won't be changing. I'm fairly certain that the daily limit is around 15-20 people, if you are issuing more than that amount of rep you're abusing the system. Rep needs to be regulated, if too much is given out it will just become worthless.

I disagree, since your rep is limited perhaps you'll use it a wisely, if you had tones of it you could rep everyone. It wouldn't be fair on people who have been here years with high rep, they actually had to work for their rep and it took time. Rep shouldn't be given out to people who reply to a thread saying "Well done" or "Congrats", it should be given to people who help you or have put actual effort into a comment.

I personally feel that the current limit of 15 is enough and I don't think it needs to be changed. As stated above, it's very rare that you'd have to give more than that in a day anyway, plus if it was a regular thing then rep could begin to become pointless.

I think you have got a bit confused here, Robbie. The daily limit wasn't ever abolished, or even suggested by the management but the number of people you could rep in 24 hours was increased. I found it restrictive when it was 5 but I do believe that it has been raised twice since then and I have never had a problem with it since. :)

Also if the limit was abolished then you could theoretically give out 250,000 rep points per day.
That is not good.

she was not trolling LOL you joker.
but yeah to keep on topic i agree with bethie.
Talking of rep, I think the post thing should be changed from 2,500 to 1000 posts as 2,500 posts is alot!

No, Neversoft already has enough rep power, no need to give him more. That'd give him an extra 12 rep power.

Nope, this would make some people have a ridiculous amount of rep power.

it still baffles me as to why people care so much about rep. yeah i'm expecting a comment aimed towards the amount i have now. but seriously, i been on this forum nearly 6 years and have 14k posts, what do you expect? it was much different say 4/5 years ago.

At the moment it is set at 15 which I think is a fair number to stop people abusing the system, it wasn't too long ago that it was changed either. It won't be changing again anytime soon though.

Again, I think this is fair as they're plenty of ways to get your rep up around the forum so we don't want to start making it too easy. As others had said this would also give some people a ridiculous amount of rep power.

The limit was 5, and was already raised twice. At 5, people said 10, at 10, people said 15.
At the end of the day, you'll always want more - so what you have to ask is if there's a structural reason why you want more. Should you be giving out more than 15 reps a day? Perhaps in extraordinary circumstances you happen to come upon a profoundly intellectual thread where 20 successive posters deserve rep. But that will be the exception, not the rule.
The fact that you've only just run into the 15 reps a day situation is proof enough that even you aren't that limited by it.
