Why is it all glass?

I think mainly due to micro chips as well as it looks quite good.
Towards the end, the eBook and bluee prints (Forgot to mention they are legit too) that they are just on plastic sheets.

Could also be possibly due to things like the touch generation technology now-a-days (iPod/Phones etc)
