With all the natural disasters lately, including Japan,

Could this be a sequence of events leading up to 2012, what the mayan civilisation predicted?

Oh it's bloody natural, do you guys really believe it's the beginning of 2012. It's a natural disaster they were expecting a big earthquake anyway.

I actually think it has nothing to do with 2012.

Like seriously,

Japan were overdue for a massive earthquake, it is scary though. but no i doubt it very much.

what happens on the 19th March?

i'm a believer of 2012 :)

I highly doubt it, natural disasters occur a lot and given that japan lies on quite a few plates so its an earthquake prone area. A big earthquake is going to happen on the San Andreas fault line which is only natural as its two plates moving beside each other, this doesn't mean the worlds going to end only that the earths crust is moving.
Also, nobody actually talked a lot about 2012 only a few people until the film '2012' was released..

Jen is the only one who has a clue, isn't she?

On the 19th March, the Moon is closer to earth than it has ever been. This is causing all the events.

HOWEVER if it is possible to predict, the Mayans COULD have seen the moons movement, just they are 18 months to late on the prediction. They were gone hundreds and hundreds of years ago - so predicting something and being 18 months out doesn't seem so absurd. However, if they DID predict it, they could have seen this as a the end of the world, as they hadn't experienced anything like it - although in actual fact it really isn't that bad.

Just my thoughts which in theory could be the case. However I don't believe in 2012 and the thing about the moon is the obvious reason why it is all happening.

Repentance?

A massive tsunami hit many areas such as Japan, Hawaii etc, in 1960 due to a massive earthquake 160km away from the coast of Chile. So it might just be another natural disaster, many areas around the world suffer with these

I've always been aware of 2012 before the movie, as my family and i, always visit mexico around every 2 years , and we've been to the mayan temples , the villages, the grave yards. I also have a stone mayan calendar itself what hangs on my wall.

Inseriousity.
12-03-2011, 11:21 AM
When a calendar finishes, you get a new one. They just have a different calendar to us. That's all it is if I remember correctly lol. These natural disasters are just that, natural and not a sign of things to come.

Martin

I think they just got fed up of making this calendar and decided to call it a day (they would have been around forever if they had carried on writing it), or they got wiped out before they were able to finish, or they ran out of ink or something, could be either.

I think this is perhaps relating to that thing with the moon being close, I heard it mentioned recently that it could trigger more horrific events like this.

Oh do be quiet. The Mayans couldn't predict their own extinction, let alone the end of the ******* world.

Natural disaster. 2012 is a load of **** if you believe it...lol @ you.

The Mayan calendar does NOT end. It simply turns over from Baktun (like our century/Millenium) 12 to Baktun 13.

I'm not so sure if that's totally correct. They were overdue a big earthquake anyway so until it's confirmed I don't really believe you :( But I have heard about the moon being closest to the earth next week!

And New Zealand?

It will never be confirmed, can you prove something like that?

nope. the moon is just a bit closer than it normally is for this time of year, affecting the wave/tide patterns since the gravity of the moon has an effect on the tide patterns.

Mixed formats but weird coincidence huh.

USA lost many lives on 9-11-01
Now, Japan has lost more lives on 3-10-11
Add the 2 dates together and you'll get 12-21-12

Not exactly true, the moon has been proven to have been moving away from us for millions of years. A few millimetres a year or something much less, so the moon has been alot closer to us. In the time of the dinosaurs it could have been 4-5 times larger in the sky than it is for us now.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12311119

But it is true that the moon has moved closer than normal for this date.

what? like all the natural disasters that happen EVERY year?

And no it's not because the moon is really close in 8days.

It's all pure coincidence at the timing.

omg LOL at someone adding something up in mixed formats go get something that kind of relates. + you picked a man made disaster and a natrual disaster, this thread is full of fail

AND BTW, THE MOON IS MOVING AWAY FROM EARTH 2CM EVERY YEAR

I'm about to get all Geographical on your ass and give you all a GCSE Geography lesson in 20 seconds.

You need to look at the Japanese earthquake and Tsunami as one event. The moon has nothing to do with what has happened in Japan. Japan is on a known fault line where pressure has been building up due to the convergence of plates, this pressure was released as an earthquake and subsequently will have moved the sea floor up/down somewhat, and so causing the Tsunami.

It's natural, the world is fine, we're not going to die, live life and deal with it.

:P

Actually the moon moves away is 3.8 centimeters per year is the average rate.

The whole "world is going to end" in the year 2012 is complete ********. You can all read the FAQ about this on NASA's website:

http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012.html

Natural disasters happen all the time, the earthquake and all such events are normal.

Quotin;

But this quake happened with the sun and moon askew — the time when tidal forces are weakest. Putting aside the fact that the moon doesn't trigger massive earthquakes, blaming this quake on the supermoon is like trying to pin a house fire on an arsonist who is out of town at the time of the crime.

The Mayan people do not have much jurisdiction to be honest, they're lousy civilisation crumbled due to poor structural management of agricultural systems - the Mayan people split from their "glorious" cities when there was no food and they kept destroying arable land, so they're not that clever. The main theory about the world ending is based on their linear calendar (it ends, while our calendar doesn't). I personaly do not believe the Mayan's have predicted anything, it's a huge coincidence and the paranoia that is ripe in modern day society about the world's end means the population are connecting bad events with the end of the world theories.

YAWN.

Japan are having earthquakes all the time. There's even a 70% possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years. I can't wait to see 2012 come and go so people stop talking about it.

But on topic, the 19th of March thing is legitimately fairly scary although i dont believe in 2012

This is a good way of proving that the internet has power. The whole thing is a hoax, it predicts a planet clashing with the earth to cause catastrophe and the stories origin is the internet. There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades according to NASA. March, 2003 was the original date but when nothing happened (the creators knew nothing would happen) they simply shifted the date and allowed the fear to live on. Media didn't exactly help quash these stories but whatever, when December 21 2012 passes the date will be shifted again to something like September 1 2018 and we'll have to endure another terrible film.

It happened on the 11TH OF MARCH 2011;

The whole theory is based on "little" mistakes like this which people who believe in it, fail to look into.

The 23 enigma refers to the belief that most incidents and events are directly connected to the number 23, some modification of the number 23, or a number related to the number 23.

Of course if you take two dates of death anywhere in history you're going to have some adding up to 12, it's easy to find links between anything.
