Not my first composition but my first one of this genre - i guess it's kinda trance/dub-step but with a sci-fi edge.

I called it "Aliens Are Coming" and you'll see why.

It's quite short, and I'm not 100% happy with it but I want some CC because I'll work on it in my next music lesson :)

anyway, here's the link:

Sounds quite alright, and it suits the name too but it was pretty boring if you get me. I'm not entirely sure how to make it more interesting as I'm not that creative myself either haha.

Also if you don't mind me asking, what did you use to create it?

I understand, needs more layers etc. but I don't have any ideas atm. Thanks :)

it just sounds kind of empty, like background music you'd put in a movie

i think the bass line is okay but it needs to be a bit more prominent, have you changed the velocity levels for different notes or something? cos it sounds kind of 'dippy', and i think it needs to vary a bit

i think the drum pattern that comes in is interesting but for the most part its just like straight kicks and it gets a tad boring, i think they need to be a bit punchier as well to make it more danceable (if that's what you're going for idk :P)

i guess to me it just sounds too quiet for a "trance/dub-step" song, and like you said i think it needs more layers, maybe some underlaying pads and some kind of synth riff over the top or something like that just to bring it to life a bit

i like the theme you've gone for and the sfx work well but it just needs that extra 'something' that makes it sound complete, but i think you've got a good basis so far just need to develop your ideas, good job :)

Okay I'll play around with it when I get the chance. I tried some synth leads but they weren't working but I'll go back and have another look. Thanks again :)
