Another idea for V6..

Perhaps allow the competitions department to run competitions on the main website as well? I know most people who use Habbox.com are Habbo players, many of which do not wish to sign up to the forum.

A simple 'Competitions' page - which is only viewable to Registered members, could have competitions posted in it. To enter it would be a bit like a survey format of a question, with a box and a submit button - essentially it would be the same thing you have on here, just would be another feature for Registered users - you could even have it so the same competitions are posted on there, as are posted on the forum if you wanted to?

Inseriousity.

We have a competitions widget that tells people which competitions are open on the main site. Not sure if it's default like the events widget is.

I think competitions should remain on the forum tbh.

Fair enough, was just wondering if it might help keep people coming back as registered users.

Obviously if you don't think it would help, then that is also fine :)

Totally agree, something I've always thought was a good idea. Having competitions on the site will attract people onto the site and keep a lot of them coming back!

Hmm, the thing with that is that upon choosing a winner you'll have to have both up and it'll be really, really confusing. Although it'd be nice to have features on the site, like Mike I think it'd be more worthwhile to enter competitions. If they see "competitions" on the default design, they'll think "ooh" and sign up if they see ten comps like at the moment. After all, I don't get why people would sign up to the site if it's no more advantageous than a forum? :P

The problem is at the moment, there is no reason whatsoever to sign up to the website - so just thinking of ways to get people - I am sure there are ideas in the pipeline, but you know :)

I think he means competitions solely for people registered on the site - which is a good idea. I like it :)

Yeah you're right there's not much there at the moment but there are some good ideas coming up that will plug that gap imo.

As of the moment you would register to customize the widgets on the homepage, and comment on news and rarevalues. Though that's not lists and lists of reasons it's still several compelling enough reasons for a first release. I want to implement more user interactive elements for sure though, so watch this space.

As far as competitions go, at the most I could imagine a page on Habbox.com explaining what competitions are, then listing them quite like the widget does but of course they direct back to the forum where the users would still enter. This would be beneficial because it would mean competitions would be advertised on the website, but of course still take place on the forum, so it's a win win.

Something to think about for when adding more stuff for people is maybe a chat box? Because atm, there's no chatbox on the forum - which some forums and I just think it would be a good way for people to get to know each other.

Can't remember exactly why the chatbox was removed but I know it was for good reasons so I would assume the same would be for the Habbox site.

a) Can't be moderated
b) Habbo is an advanced chatbox anyway.

Because it was lucky to have more than one person in it at a time.. and it takes up a lot of bandwidth.

Not sure why a chatbox is wanted anyway? You are on a website that is completely based around chat (a forum), then people want a chatbox.. to chat?

There are plans for General Management to run competitions for registered members on the site, however it won't occur until we have a stable website. I know Jin has been saving up a lot of credits to do something with the site in this manner.

I think in terms of the Comps Dept however, it's better to keep them based on the forum as it's a good pulling point for the forum in terms of getting habbo users to sign up. The comps widget on the site will *hopefully* bring people across to sign up to enter competitions and then start using HxF - kinda using all three sites to complement eachother and get people across either way. Habbox.com is the starting point for a lot of people that become Habboxers, we can all link back to stories of using HxValues years before signing up to the forum. I think of it this way, we attract them with amazing things on our website (which we let slip over the past few years, but now obv its getting better) then we get them on the forum & trap them forever :D
