I'm currently in the process of changing from Virgin Media to Sky in order for my mother to save some cash. I've constantly protested the idea however sadly the plan went ahead and Sky have contacted Virgin Media who have disconnected me. That's all fair and good but what I didn't know is that once Sky change the phone lines (which will happen this Friday) it will then take upto ten days for them to sort out my internet. That's a ridiculous amount of time without internet, especially for someone who's an active internet user like myself.
I'm currently using a '3' dongle which is nothing compared to a wired connection, I'm not going to even attempt to download anything on this for the fear that the thing might catch fire or spontaneously combust.
I phoned up Virgin Media to ask if I could have another one month extended connection and the lady I spoke too said that it probably wouldn't be an issue and that we should go and check with her superiors, five minutes later she returns and tells me that I would have to take out a twelve month contract if I wished to have further internet connection. Ridiculous, especially for a customer who has shown loyalty for the past ten years.
I honestly thought the process would be a lot quicker especially taking into consideration that the internet is such a big thing and how it plays an important role in some peoples lives. This is the normal time to wait for an ISP change, right? I'm going to keep the protests up in the hope that my mother might just phone up Sky and cancel the whole thing.
