I miss HabboxTV! I think Habbox should bring it back. The whole Habbo TV era feels dead which is a shame. Would Habbox ever consider bringing it back?

P.S. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. :P

I don't know what this is, but if it is what I think it is, yes bring it back :P

I think Hx TV in the current climate of declining fansite popularity will not garner many hits. Although it was a nice thing to add, it probably got scrapped for the right reasons. The initial hype will die down and it'll die again if it's brought back. This along with productions are I feel a thing of the past for the archives.

But like Grig has said, I do not believe this sort of content would be any interest of the community any more and would not be popular and would rather be a waste of time and resources. (Apart from the people who want it back, which would be a low number really) It would be quite a risk to be bring such departments back from the dead. I think we should just remember on how it used to be back in the old days, we did try in the past to bring up some of the old episodes and series for people to watch but we could only find very little of them.

Who knows what will happen in the future.

I certainly don't think HabboxTV as it was will ever return to Habbox. I suppose there are modern alternatives we could go down, but as Matt said who knows what the future holds.

Habbox had a department which made TV shows like doctor who using habbo :) and recorded them and put them on the website for people to watch

HabboxTV was awesome, but should never return. It's out dated and just would not work, they're kinda cheesy too :P

I remember an attempt to bring it back under Sammeth as part of the Productions Department (which actually closed down not long afterwards). I was hired but there was a lot of work involved in it (writing, shooting, flash work etc etc) that it'd need a very very dedicated staff team behind it and as you say it's dead so I think there would be much reward of doing it.

I did a few Habbo TV shows back in the day for other fan-sites and it wasn't actually that challenging. Many of us managed to work on shows individually. I just hope it can come back in some form soon because my friends and I miss it a lot. :(

I don't think there should be a team for it but perhaps all the old shows could be brought back and allow users to submit shows too.

If I can recall there was a thread asking for the old ones to be brought back but they wern't on the server so wouldn't be able to upload them for us :(

I wish they could have uploaded them all on youtube or something so they were easier to view for the future. :(

I agree with the others really in that it wouldn't really work in this climate. It had it's day and it will have been removed for a reason. I think perhaps it would be nice to do things like this as one off specials or something perhaps, however having a team working on it permanently/making it a permanent fixture wouldn't work I don't think. Perhaps we could have something like a Habbox Youtube channel and could look into something like that for the future uploading a few Habbo shows or something.

So what was habbox tv exactly?

Habbox TV is a now defunct Habbox department which produced videos on the Habbo client in either flash or GIF format. They had plots, actors, script writer directors and everything!

I have a backup of a lot of shows lurking around that I contributed back to Habbox approximately five months ago. They never got used although I will contribute them back to Calvin today and I'm sure the content department will make a section to show off the videos.

It should but not like it was. The way it was executed was pretty awful and all the graphics and stuff was pretty awful and people did not want to read the text and I think the writing of the stories wasn't great. I think you should do some sort of pilot, something decent with the right people. HabboxTV was not the problem, it was the way it was run.

Yeah, I remember most of the soaps had pretty bad story-lines. The Street was awesome though.

Ah so that's what it was. Can't say i've ever really been a fan of habbo vids, apart from one or two exceptions.

It sounds like a nice idea, however i'm not sure that for the amount of work it needs that it will be watched by that many.

I don't think there is the demand for loads of shows but possibly a one off or a small series might be worth it.

The demand has to be made. There was no demand for video games now it is a saturated market. There was no demand for bluray now it's selling almost as well as DVD. There was no demand for new music styles but now these styles are common. A one off (pilot) would be to start it and see if it is there. That's why TV shows have pilots to see if that show could have potential.

Like what a real TV show would do, create an episode of something and see how well the response is.

The demand is not there, echoing my previous posts- 4 users posting in a thread agreeing is not really demand. Some of them are simply posting because of hype and probably won't end up watching after a week. Sure, you could post a poll- but you have to consider why the department closed in the first place. Nor do I think Habbox TV like it was back in the days would be very popular, you would have to modernize it and do something to attract more users. A tube thing that Martin said sounds cool, but it's about people using it- I doubt (and I could be wrong) that people will even use that. Unless you make things that WOW people, promote it a hell of a lot and to somehow pull it off will be a miracle.

That could be your argument for everything. I might as well say bring back the productions and all other defunct departments because a demand can be made. Video games and blu-ray disks do not became popular because they had something that the market didn't have ever before, quality and variety. That is in no way a comparison to Habbox TV, which has been tried before and didn't really work out that well. Also, the comparisons yet again become irrelevant when that reaches out to millions, for this the market is extremely small. You have missed the point of my reply by when I said it closed for a reason- that it was becoming dead, boring and unneeded. I am going to repeat myself and say, if it were to re-open it would have something to 'WOW' people and I don't think by bringing it back with cheesy plots of soaps will do so. If you get good plots, somehow re-make it so it could even have sound and stuff then it may grow, but even then I think that growth with be to a limit.

I think what HotelUser said was a brilliant idea. Last year when we tried to reintroduce the ones which he had saved from years ago, we couldn't get them to work on the site but hopefully now there will be a chance to bring them back as an archive for people to watch.

If any of you are talented enough to know what to do then you could do it seperate from Habbox and see how it goes. If the videos are of a decent quality and get good hits then you could present them to Habbox and see what they think. It's one way to do it.

Why do you need Habbox? Post them on the forum in the sections most relevant to them. If they become popular, Habbox may help you along and get involved. It's the best way to prove if they will become successful :)

I was saying it would be a good base to work off, as it would be a Habbox dept (I guess) which would gain quite a bit of advertisement compared to if you did it separate and posted them in the relevant forums.

It would be useful, indeed, but Habbox do not want to waste their resources at the moment to make a new department that may not take off. If you do it independently, think of it as 1-up manship and proving Habbox that it could work if it takes off. A few people seem interested in it, so why not muck around and see what happens? :)

This is true. When it re-opened last time, despite the support it got, it never kicked off. Oli has said somewhere in the thread that if you can 'provide a case' that it won't be the same as last time - in other words, make an outstanding Habbo TV show - then Habbox will provide the resources and advertising investment to kick start it all off. :)

I would suggest just making it yourself. If it's good quality, contact Habbox and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to display the videos - they won't make it a department yet. Then you have Habbox to get the hits, and if you prove that the department is sustainable and the hits roll in, the department will probably come back.

It's not that you also have to get the hits/popularity yourself, I'm sure General Management would air your videos and give them coverage, but you would probably have to prove that the department wouldn't be a fad as it was when we last restarted it, and also that there is demand. Then it could come fully back.
