Logitech X-210s. They're going in my room on my main rig. I have no room or money for anything better.
My worry is that the bass, according to a lot of reviews, is overpowering. This sub is going on the floor. It is down-firing. It is above the living room.
Is this going to cause as much of a problem as I think it is? I have some chipboard I can rest the sub on, or it can just stay on carpet. I mainly use it for Grooveshark, so only editing Windows sound settings is going to help...
I have the 5.1 version, it's great. The difference is with my one I can control the sub level, the sub on the 2.1 (which my brother has) is slightly overpowering yeah, when he has it on quiet it still sounds like thunder.

Right, is it something likely to cause a problem a floor below, or something that can be sorted?
Not sure, often my parents tell him to turn it down because they can hear it
I have 5.1 logitech speakers, with the same sub as shown in that picture, but by the above posts, you obviously can't change the level of the bass, whereas on mine you can. Logitech do have very good sound quality, and for what you are paying, you will get the represpective sound quality... but with logitech you should expect a little better.

I have two sets of the 210s (one set for ps3 one for PC)
For the price they are a superb set of speakers, however the sub is somewhat overpowering, and since you cannot turn it down, it can be a pain for people down stairs. I don't listen to music particularly loud, nor play games with the sound up too high, but it can still be heard downstairs. If it ever gets too much I just put a bit of anti static mat below the sub, as is sort of bounces the vibrations away.
A nice set of speakers for the price, but ideally they would be much more attractive with a sub!

If you have a decent sound card you should be able to change the amount of bass from its control panel.

I only have on-board sound. Sound card is possible, I do have a spare Sound Blaster 24-bit (in a spare rig. The amount of grief I have had trying to install that thing on Windows 7...).
Recursion, is your sub placed on a desk, or a solid floor? I have got a fairly thick carpet, and I'm sure if I had to I could stuff a old T-shirt or two underneath it to dampen it.

I will assume you meant Milestone :p
Mine is on the floor, my carpet is thin too, which obviously impacts it.
I will upload a photo later so you can see? :)

I do have a reasonably thick carpet, so I should be fine. If not, a bit of chipboard will fix I'm sure.
Sorry about the name confusion...

I have them exact speakers, and the sub is very overpowering, I have mine on my desk yet you can hear the thump of the bass downstairs if I have it turned up. Still fantastic speakers.

I've made the decision that if downstairs have a problem with the bass, they can insert said problem where the sun doth not shine. The X210s are being ordered.
