Lately my pc in the middle of something will just shut down instantly, like there's been a power cut, but there hasn't been and everything else is fine.
I do need a new PC but right now can't afford it. I'm just curious what could be causing this, overheating, faulty hardware or what?
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I could prevent this?
Thanks!
checked its plugged in properly at the back, mine does that sometimes.

Not sure if this it your problem, however when I first built my custom rig, my CPU fan turned out to be faulty. This was causing my PC to turn off a lot since it kept getting far too hot.
Check out your fans, and check they all work and are all plugged in
