View Full Version : HabboxLive Staff Song

Why exactly is it autotuned? I thought the whole point of a karaoke was to sing yourself as editing it loses the whole point. :P

Are the staff so bad at singing they need to be autotuned?!

Grig

Calv just showed me it- it's awful in the sense that it looses meaning. Staff songs were always about this fun natural singing, that people could then laugh at and enjoy. The days of Baby HabboxLive are long gone.

Is there only me who finds them cringeworthy and just makes me want to tune out...? :P

I don't know if I'm honest.

It is supposed to be funny I agree...I don't know my honest opinion as it will be biased. But I agree the old staff songs were natural and for a joke rather than auto-tuned and serious.

Well older productions from 2007ish were actually alright and funny, but nowadays it doesn't seem to mesh.

This, I can honestly agree that I don't listen to HabboxLive much, but if this song come on - I would tune out straight away :)

Also how are we supposed to tell who is who?

it says "DJ Robbie" "DJ woodsy" etc. as the parts come on, but it's quite hard to hear.

and I said this one is more serious, previous ones were more of a joke.

Thing is with the old staff songs people used to hate them, this one sounds ok and a lot of people are requesting it so I guess it works for today's audience. The Christmas songs which were full-on karaoke lost listeners rapidly, whereas this edited song seems to have a positive effect :P

Exactly.

I like the idea of staff songs and I enjoy taking part in them, but I think the current one, although a nice idea to auto-tune them, in practice just makes us sound stupid.

Nope, not just you.

I asked Calv what the song is and my first response was "is this an early April fools?" In all due respect, it's a bit of a laugh, you're not professional singers so have a fun with your natural voices. I'm enclined to say that you'd sound better without the autotune. Sorry, I guess it's okay to investigate but I think you really should go back to natural the next time you do a staff song as like Matt says, the autotune is cringeworthy.

You sir are very wrong. People used to love stuff like baby Habboxlive etc. We would get tons of requests every show to play it.

Not nowadays tho, but they like the song made so we can't really say there's anything wrong with it. I personally think it sounds funny cause it's edited.

Inseriousity.

I remember people complaining - probably people who rarely listened to HxL though - about the Telephone staff song because "they can't sing." I personally enjoy laughing at them because some voices are just so ridiculous, you have to admire their guts as well!

I'm not entirely sure but I do believe 'staff songs' are exclusive to HxL (I don't see other habbo radios do it but i dont pay much attention either so yeah they might do :P) so I think that it should be encouraged to keep up the tradition.

I actually quite like the song :( I guess it depends on peoples tastes really, and unfortunately not everyone will like it. Habbox staff songs aren't always going to be perfect, we don't hire professional singers etc. At the end of the day it's a bit of fun, and one song isn't going to hurt anybody. As others have said, its a tradition that habbox has upheld for a good while, and trying out something new (the autotune) with it isn't going to do much harm- the singing still wont be perfect and that's to be expected. Whats important is that these people are having a go and attempting to entertain their listeners. Whilst some older members/forum members etc may not like it, we cater for a wide variety of people and habboxlive has quite a large following of habbo users/younger users who would enjoy the fun of hearing the DJ's they regularly tune into do something fun like this. I have noticed the song itself being requested too, so it must tickle someones pickle!

I mean this is my argument against- you don't hire professional singers. You might as well keep it natural to keep it exactly how it originally was. You're not professionals so an auto-tune doesn't need to be used. Dunno if this post made immense sence, I'm really tired atm.

As he said though Alex, different things suit different people, so I guess a mix is good.

Props to them for attempting something new but I totally agree with Calvin. It isn't my cup of tea. It's a shame things have to change, I'm a man of the past. I definitely prefer karaoke because it's amusing.

@Oli
Lets be honest any track made by habboxlive staff is going to be popular on air, I guess the "fans" just like when all their favourite djs get together and create something new.

Things don't have to change Richie, I'm sure old-style HxL songs will be created too :P

Tbh, i actually prefer the DJs actually singing. Sure some of them may sound bad but i really don't like the auto tuned version :( it just doesnt sound like the djs singing at all.

Also to add if you get the djs to sing then to auto tune it doesnt that just take out the fun of actually making a staff song? i always thought it was fun to be part of a staff song when i was HabboxLive staff.

A HabboxLive version of an average day as a DJ to the beat of Friday... I like it Calv, I like it! :P

7am, waking up in the morning
Gotta be fresh, gotta go downstairs
Gotta have my bowl, gotta have cereal
Seein’ everything, the time is goin’
Tickin’ on and on, everybody’s rushin’
Gotta get down to the DJ panel
Gotta log in fast, I see my requests (my requests)

Looking at the timetable
Looking at the timetable
Gotta make my mind up
Which slot can I take?

It's show time, showtime
Gotta get down on showtime
Everybody's looking forward to the weekly show, weekly show
Showtime, showtime
Getting down on showtime
Everybody's looking forward to my weekly show

Dancing, dancing
Fun, fun, fun, fun
Looking forward to my weekly show

7:45 and my slot is booked
Screaming so loud, I want to DJ now
Fun, fun think about fun
You know what it is
I got this, you got this
My friend is right by my side
I got this, you got this
Now you know it...

IT'S SHOW TIME!!

I actually like this! Some kudos to whoever sorted and mixed it. Usually most of them are off key (sorry). Despite the effects and autotune it has come out as quite a professional production which has blended the voices but kept their uniqueness.

You can't tell who's who anymore, what's the point of that. Might as well get a robot to sing and pass it of as HxL DJs.

@Rosie: It's not meant to be a professional production :P!

@Milestone: That could have been as original of a song as I'm a n00b if they did it hahahha

I just listened to it and it doesn't sound bad at all. :) It's very well done and i think most people are just complaining for the sake of complaining as it's really very good for an amateur production.

Again well done, although i didn't realise there were so many girl djs in the dept. I usualy just see the guys around the forum posting i suppose.

Doesn't mean that I can't think it is and there was enough 'identity' of the Djs left to figure out who it was :P.

Tbh, i actually quite like it. I don't see it as a negative thing to try out something new, and this is definitly something new, i don't see the problem in staff trying something new for the listeners and to also have fun with it at the same time. Even though i think it its over done it slightly on the autotuned and personally I still think i prefer people actually singing as it is a tradition habboxlive has obtained for many years. But at the end of the day its what the listeners like and everyone has different opinions, not everyone likes the same things.

it comes down to the fact, like grig said, the golden generation of hxl listeners and djs have gone. (by golden i mean not better just different) i think i still have some of the old staff songs and we were so bad we're good. Listeners had a sort of relationship with the DJs that they would find it funny and know us however now it seems a little sterile and people expect chart topping stuff!! Not that i'm having a go because i love HxL but it's different so i guess you have to move with da times.
