View Full Version : CL Quarters second leg
Yeah so they kick off tonight and continue tomorrow, what do you think will happen.
I don't think Tot will get through but i really hope they do it would be the best come back of all time. It's pretty much a done deal barca are through along with shalke and then i hope united will get through but that seems to be the only one that is going to be close!

I'm praying that Chelsea can come away with the win and get through as its about time we find some success in Europe - I've certainly been waiting for a few years now! The pressure is really on with all the speculation that Ancelotti's job is dependent on tonight and so on. Man Utd need throwing off their perch :P
I doubt there is going to be any changes on the winning team in the other fixtures. Why do we always get the hard team :(
I'll be watching and gulping at the telly tonight though however. :D

I think chelsea can perhaps scrape a win tonight, but it may well go to extra time/penalties!
other games are obviously already decided tbh
I would like it if it went to penalties just so JT can give us a chance to sing Viva John Terry again. I think with rooney rested and in some sort of form and if we go and attack the game that we could see a bit of a demolition tonight however we know we have the advantage and we do have then tendency to sit back like we did last year and be knocked out by a goal like Roben scored.
Not seen the games tonight... But ... It was obvious Barca were in the semi's & i see Torres hasnt scored ... again!
Predictions for Semis:
Barca v Madrid
Man U v Schalke
Final:
Barca v Man U

I'm really ashamed to be a Chelsea support after last night's performance (if you can even call it that). Man Utd blew us away quite frankly, and they managed to play mind games on Ancelotti through the press. Where was Torres? Not a goal per usual. He is one of the biggest wastes of money and space Chelsea have had for a long time and Abromovich and Ancelloti know it.
Its been another season off form, especially in Europe. I'd say its the worse we've had in 10 years. We still haven't won the Champions League after all these years. So I guess thats it at least for this year. I doubt any big changes will happen and to be honest I don't think Chelsea and Europe are to be :P
Rumor has it Carlo is near to being shown the door. That's another Manager crossed off the 'Chelsea list' - who will replace him next? Surely we're running out of decent proven managers.

Doesn't mourinho want a return to the PL?
He even said himself he would consider a return to Chelsea.

Thing is would Brammy scare him off? Apparently he's looking at managing Man City. I'd love to see Mourinho return to the bridge though however. I doubt it would be in Chelsea's interests as Abramovich will get involved and start melding per usual. It took Chelsea ages to recover from when he left the club. I just don't think its meant to be.
You never know though, a few years down the line he could always do a Keegan :P

Yeah thats what I thought. Chelsea fans might want him back, but does Roman? I doubt it.
I knew torres was a mistake from the start... Why spend 50million on ONE player when hes not even in good form, and when you can get 2 or 3 good players for collectively for the same price. I guess it just shows how rich roman is; to him, £50million is pennies!

he has also be quoted saying the only team he would return to the PL for is united. i would welcome it but i want long term not a flying visit like his usually does, i know we'll never have another fergie but i don't want to end up like Chelsea chopping and changing or like Arsenal having a manager who wins nothing because he can't build a team yet is still in a job.

You do know Wenger has won things before yes? If you ask me, would I rather our club get in huge debt, and win some trophies, or have a sustainable rebuilding period, where we become financially stable, build a new stadium, and find some of the best talents on the planet so that in a few years we can start winning trophies again and not have to spend millions getting in debt to do so, I'd much rather have the later. Obviously not winning trophies isn't a good thing, but it's the price we have to pay to build for the future and i'm glad we have done it.
We can name our whole squad of 30 players for the next 5 years or so, without a single player being over 30 after those 5 years and also having a lot of potential world class players in that squad. How many teams across the world can say that?
It's only a matter of time before we start winning things, anyone can see that. We've constantly been improving over the past few years, and if it's not this season, it'll be very soon.

I agree with you that you are improving, I mean this season you're competing for the Premier League but it's same old story where you slip up along the way or at the last hurdle. Birmingham in the CC final? You will say it comes down to individual errors, with goalkeepers and defenders but this has been the case for a good few seasons and in order for you to start progressing as a whole then you need to spend in the summer on a good goalkeeper.

We don't need a new GK. Szczesny is good enough, just needs more experience and we need to keep a consistant backline.
When everyone is back, then we'd have a team of:
First XI:
---------------- Szczesny ----------------
Sagna - Djourou - Vermaelen - Clichy
----------- Song --- Wilshere -----------
--- Walcott --- Fabregas --- Nasri ---
--------------- van Persie ---------------
Second XI:
---------------- Fabianski ----------------
Eboue - Squillaci - Koscielny - Gibbs
---------- Diaby ---- Ramsey ----------
-- Bendtner -- Rosicky -- Arshavin --
--------------- Chamakh ---------------
Subs:
Almunia
Mannone
Traore
Frimpong
Lansbury
JET
Vela
Which is a decent back 5, we just need to keep it consistant so they learn from each other and play as a unit, and the midfield/attack is already proven.
Djourou is constantly improving, and will probably cement his first XI team like Song has done.
I'd like to see us buy a backup CB, for when Vermaelen/Djourou/Koscielny are injured, and also a backup to Song, as although Frimpong looks like a good prospect he's still young so someone experienced would be nice, and we need to sell Almunia.
How much longer are you going to have fab for? it's ok building a team but you need world class players in they and they aren't going to hang around not winning anything with the chance that one day arsenal may win a trophy. You've come closest this season to the PL and the CC and you're not out of the PL yet although it's getting more and more unlikely.
Yes we have massive debt but you pay that off by winning the big trophies and drawing in the big crowds and that's what we do. Also we made a massive massive mistake in bringing in the Glazers.
