Hey,

I'm not sure how the situation of the current lottery is going and tbh I don't care (A) but I hope it's going well.

http://habbox.com/#/Lottery

First of all this is more of an error but the site is a bit outdated. According to your lottery thread all of GM can give out tickets so it needs to have MattG off (sorry :() and Dan and Dave on. Also the "next draw" thread hyperlink thing is wrong and that's probably reducing ticket sales.

I thought however, like I wrote in another thread that the lottery should be done in HxHD. Let's look at it. Both are owned by Bolt660. Both are going to use the same sort of room. Both are unlikely to be active at the same time. This means if you do lottery sales in HxHD you will have more people entering the room to buy tickets, meaning the room gets more popular meaning Habbox's name is nearer to the top and even more people come in till the room is rather full.

This can only be advantageous for Habbox and I see no reason not to have the lottery in HxHD. It actually means something will be happening in the second area! It also means it'll be nice and easy to say "BOLT660 I WANT A TICKET WHERE DO I BUY IT????" "ooh, you can buy it here as we have trading on and we don't have to go into a specific lottery room as we're using the HxHD to promote Habbox!" "hooray that's so much easier!"

On the other hand, I'm not sure what happened in March but I think it'd be a good idea to keep the lottery short, people cba with the wait and last minute sales. Sure have some but not go on for half an hour or whatever, 10 minutes max, 8:10 roll or something. Also if you do use HxHD, HxHD Staff can keep the members occupied whilst they wait for the numbers to be drawn so it really would work.

What do we think?

The Lottery has been quite slow this month! (Reminds self to sell tickets)

I'm not sure what you mean by the bit about MattG? In the "who can sell tickets, it says any member of general manament, and lists the current names of GM, so I'm not sure if I missed something, but I'm not sure what you mean! xD
Edit: Ah I see you mean the site page now. I was using the www.habbox.com/lottery link which is the up to date one! xD This is because I didn't actually make that page, it was made by the content team based on the last lottery, and just hasn't been updated yet. I will look into updating the names on there tonight, although it's so fancy with those picture things I will probably mess it up somehow :D

In regards to having it in HxHD, Whilst it's a nice idea, the only thing that would be difficult would be ticket sales. This would mean having to leave "Trade" on within the room all of the time, and ideally once roxy's easter events are over we want to keep the room in the "Helpdesks" section on the navigator. Since It's not just me selling tickets, it would mean that trade would have to be left on, and even having to switch it on and off all the time during the month could become tedious.

We also plan on having more things like battle banzai etc and other games in the other half, which would mean we would have to squeeze the dice in the desk somehow, and I'm just not sure how practical this will be to do every month, and having to move stuff around etc and disrupt things. Ticket sales can of course still be advertised on HxHD, and whilst I'm in the room and able to turn trade on/off etc, then I can sell tickets in there too, but as a permanent base for the lottery I just don't think it will be able to work every month in there.

In regards to the draw, last month was really good actually, we sold 217 tickets, and this was done in quite a short timescale too! *hopes I can sell lots and lots of tickets before the 29th due to being so busy this month*

The main problem last time was that half of the people in the room were trying to buy tickets just before the draw started, and this happens most times really. When Roxy ran the lottery there was often a bit of a delay in the actual rolling part, it's more of a show that way I guess, and ensures the room is fuller for longer etc, like an event. That being said, I think next time the "event" can start at a specific time with it being announced that the actual draw will take place at half past the hour or something.

Although I see your point of view, I can only see benefits for tickets to be sold in HxHD. I'd go to the extent that most people know about HxHD anyway and the Help Desk section isn't very popular (or at least in terms to other sections) meaning they're more likely to search "help" rather than go to the category. The fact that the 2nd section has been changed several times over the last few days suggests to me that it won't be a problem anyway, especially that you can probably keep the same layout with the throne sofas, microphones etc. but just put the 7 dice on top for a few seconds.

In regards to your comment about selling tickets, when Roxy did the lottery she did the same thing but half an hour is an awful long time. The plan was 8pm on the last Friday I believe? When was it actually rolled last time because I'm sure it was a good 40 minutes or so after (that might have been my imagination mind) and that's not great when you're announcing it at 8pm. When I see 8pm, I'm thinking 8pm, give or take 10 minutes! Sure last minute ticket sales can be very successful but it just makes you look desperate if you're really pushing for it, after all that can be done before. I think half an hour is quite a long time as well considering quite a lot of people eat then so they might brb and get kicked out and can't re-enter. People also get impatient and possibly won't enter again because they feel they have to be present (even though they don't they just get the wrong concept) and it just generally is annoying. After all, you need a happy public! :P

Inseriousity.

Selling tickets at the last minute is where most of the money comes in and I wouldn't refuse extra donations at a time when Habbox needs it just so it lasts for 10 minutes. As long as you don't take the mick and it's half 9 rather than 8pm, it's alright. Half an hour should be fine though, especially as there's 2 draws, so more room to tease it out :)
