This might be a crap ideam but I think it could work, so here it is!
Why not sell short (15s or so) adverts to people on Habbo where they can have their rooms advertised? I think this could be a good way to raise funds which could be used for prizes etc. You would charge people for a short slot where their advertisement would be played, x amount of times per day. A maximum amount of slots would be sold - to make sure you don't get too many ads being playing. You could sell the slots in weekly/monthly timiings.
Perhaps space could also be sold to room owners on Habbox.com maiin page? Banners could be sold in different areas of the website - nothing too big obviously, or they could become intrusive. I think this would be a good way to promote a community feel on Habbox, give room owners a chance to promote their rooms (fr a small fee obviously) and get Habbox a bit more furni to use in big competitions etc.
Thoughts?

I think Habbox have done this before hmm. Oh no I remember it was a thing that they put Habbox in their room name and then it was advertised on a page on the Hx.com site.
I think your idea is quite a good idea but I think there must be a reason why it's not been done or they would have done it before :O But it certainly would be beneficial towards Habbox.

We did have banners on Habbox for rooms where rooms sponsored us/we sponsored rooms. However the deal there was they put Habbox.com in the room description and they got a banner - which was an average idea, I think we should have demanded more in the deal - and we could have.
I think Casinos would have to be banned from having advertisements, due to the high risk of scamming - and the last thing we want is "newbs" accusing us of helping scammers.
Inseriousity.

I do believe the problem was that they'd remove the Habbox name from their advertisements so unless it was checked upon and enforced (and how exactly you'd force it is a tricky area, almost impossible), it's not really that effective.
Although ofc I do believe getting the Habbox name out there is important. In theory, this would be a good idea to benefit that but in practice, it doesn't really work that well.

Advertisement is something I'm willing to look into to make a bit of funds on Habbo. I'll have a chat with martin about it :)

But my idea doesn't effect getting the Habbox name out there, well in the longer term it could. All this involves is people paying to have small radio/banner advertisements on Habbox - which could help for competitions/events that therefore encourage people to join Hx :)

It used to be done, especially with the rare values page where we had a rotating banner. We also had a 6-slot rotating banner above the forum that I personally switched in and out but that was purchased by larger organizations usually because it was a banner over the entire forum.
For the rooms and rare values, we did just ask for the advertising (I believe at one point there was a furniture charge, but I don't believe there was a cash charge.) As far as enforcement, we would list the room as [www.habbox.com] Jungle Trade and Casino and because of the search mechanism, the owners would have to keep [www.habbox.com] in the room name. For the owners with whom we had longer-standing or better relationships, we also included their Habbo names. But for people we didn't know / have many references for we omitted the room owner's name for a while.

For this they would not need to put www.Habbox.com in their room names. This would purely be to raise funds for Habbox, by charging in furniture. I don't think ads on the forum would be a good move, as we need the other ads there to raise reay money for hosting costs etc.

Right I understand what this suggestion is, I was just giving background about earlier comments where people said that they think we did this in the past - it was slightly different.
Also, what else did you think we used the forum ad rotator for :P They had to pay a fixed amount per month for one of six slots on the banner rotator. We had google ads in the empty slots.

Sorry, I thought you were still replying to my post that you quoted. Misunderstood :)
