Going to book my test within the next 1-2 months. Just need to iron out a few rough edges. Done absolutely no private practise though. my dad drives but no idea how to get insured, should I just go out with him w/o insurance in car parks with cones for manoeuvres? . Atm I've had 23 lessons. Probably hitting 27-30 before my test. Any advice haha?
I wouldn't bother with private practice, you pick up bad habits and your Dad will probably point out errors that are wrong in his eyes but are actually fine. I noticed this when I did private practice, I picked up a few bad habits before my test but none that would cause me to fail/get minors. I'd be very careful with private practice. Best idea is to carry on with the lessons, good luck

Yea don't bother with private practice you'll end up picking up bad habits e.g. not indicating when going through a mini roundabout with no one else there which i then failed cause of rofl.

Yeah but apparently you need 40 hours private practise and then 20 hours instructed, that is 60 hours total. Does that mean I'll need to take 60 lessons?

You don't need anything, they recommend 40 hours private.
& another thing is, the age, the car and the engine will all effect the way you drive so you'll get used to driving you're own/family's car and then go back to the lesson car and no doubt make a ton of errors
23 lessons! OMG we pass in 10 over here someone this year passed in 2 lessons and 4 weeks because some go out private practicing every day or whatever just drive normally on the roads if you're going somewhere. You need to private practice to complement your lessons or in my opinion there is no point. Maybe we just do it differently in my area.
