View Full Version : Habbox Today
The ones which appear on the habbox.com homepage are really outdated, like HxHD, competitions, rarevalues and yeah :P Just thought i would let you know. Sorry if wrong forum (:

I don't see how they're outdated. Just because the images don't have the management etc. it doesn't actually matter as it never says that on the image that they're the managers and the text serves its purpose.
Well it should be the current management otherwise in my eyes it looks silly. All the graphics designers should have the PSD's making it easy to change :)

Why does it look silly? The only one which looks mildly out of date is the HxHD one however other than that I think it doesn't matter who's on and can remain a low priority.
Inseriousity.

While I agree with alex that it shouldn't be a high priority, it's still something that could be changed to bring it as up to date as possible.

Updating Habbox Today images is extremely easy to do so all the departments would have to do is request a quick image from the graphics team and sort it. I do agree they should be changed often in order to keep the site looking new and fresh, but I don't think the primary reason should be just because the management is outdated :P.. we should be concentrating on the departments and how they perform as opposed to what Habbo character is on the image :P
It doesn't look silly at all, guaranteed half of the new people on the forum/the website don't even know what half the manager's Habbo looks like. That's like saying change it every time they get a new look, it's impractical.
Well seeing as that is the graphics departments job then it should be their priority. It wont effect the performance of any other dept.

The graphics department job isn't to update graphics every two minutes with the new looks of managers/new managers, there are other more important things to do you know. ;)

I was in the department you know. :)
But it would take hardly anytime at all. And I mean just update it when a manager changes. :L

But it's a minor thing, it's not a problem lol... if a manager is really that bothered by it then they can resubmit a request for it to be done and they know that.

Then I'm sure Myke would agree with me that a change of one Habbo is not going to be the priority over multiple graphics which are needed for some sort of big event where graphics actually serve purpose, yes?

I didn't say it was to be put on the top of the list of graphics, just would be nice for them to be updated.

This suggests that you think they should be prioritised over most things, when to be honest, they shouldn't really. As you said, they won't effect the performance of any dept. :)

I've changed the colour of my jumper to a darker shade of blue - who's up for updating? :)

kk i'll do it now brb.
but no I don't see the problem in having an outdated habbo on the Habbox Today it clearly says in the image and text what it's for so it's not as if it's going to confuse everyone.

To clarify, it would not in any way be the graphic department's fault that an image on Habbox.com was not up to date because it's department managers who go to them to request graphics, and department managers who have editing access and the responsibility to maintain Habbox Today for their own department.
The images are pretty well up to date I'd say. Dan for instance is still on the Rare Values image yes, however he is most certainly still Habbox staff and even though Alex is on the Competitions banner he is still very much so a member of the community and has made quite a lasting impact on the competitions department so that's ok.
The only image I would say is in dire needs of changing is the Help Desk image because it still retains to an old old layout we used when Matt still owned the Help Desk. Roxy is already aware of this and I'm sure has or will request a new graphic for this shortly :)

Couldn't something be coded to solve this whole situation?
I mean when you use a sig generator it generates an image dynamically with your Habbo Image on it. So couldn't someone whip up a quick script that does this and then have somewhere on Habbox where you can store the names of the managers in variables or something and then when there is a change in manager you change the variable on that page and thus all the images linked to that manager change on the website?
It would save graphics alot of time.
But tbh in my eyes, i don't see the big fuss about it. I wouldn't care if my image was posted on Habbox or not. Like David said people like Me and Alex are still on our old Department Habbox Today images, we were in those departments for years and we are still around the forum today so the images are still relavent. But i wouldn't care if it was replaced either, it's only an image!!!

I think that's hassle, coding things to place themselves in the images will often break (like the event hxtoday) - like David said it's the job of the Department Managers to maintain their Departmental Habbox Today. If they don't mind the old managers being on it, then I don't mind too much.
I think it is important that Dept Managers are kept up to date in some respects especially the community ones because images in places causes recognition, the Forum Manager has never had a spot on the HabboxForum Banner until the Easter Skin and several people have said to Nicola "Nickiest I saw you on the HabboxForum banner are you the forum manager?" so clearly to have managers faces in places it does work for recognition, but yes not a major issue.

Might save Graphics' time, but wastes David's...

Make your mind up ;)
