Hey,

Just wondering, how planned are you for your future? I still have two years to go, yet I know exactly where I would like to go to university, and what I would like to do after that.

I would like to study Marketing at Hull, then go in to the Consumer Electronics industry. Seems weird that I already have a strong idea of what I plan to do in my future.

What do you wish to do?

I'm unsure, I used to be certain that I wanted to be a Clinical Psychologist however upon studying parts of clinical psychology as part of my degree I'm unsure I would enjoy it, it all sounds very heavy. It's interesting as as you develop in life things change, I've studied psychology in some format for almost 4 years now and for the first three I was more interested in the abnormal stuff, leading to me wanting to be a clinical psychologist however this past year I've enjoyed the developmental stuff more, which makes me wonder if I want to be an Educational Psychologist. I will most probably be some form of psychologist but i'll have to wait and see which route I choose, I've also considered counselling psychology too, as that's a little less heavy than full on clinical but we'll see.

Inseriousity.

lol like Oli I used to be certain. I wanted to be a teacher. I was going to get a degree, do my PGCE then go into teaching via that route. However, during A Level and parts of my uni course, I actually think I'd like doing research more. I've mentioned in the 'Common hobbies' thread that I love discovering or analysing the behaviour of people and also educational debates (what is it? how do we give people the best education? etc), I'd like to combine the two. Research into educational areas. I do think however that to do research, while you don't need the teaching element, it'd probably help to have that experience.

Off to uni next year, 3 year English and Creative Writing course, then a year's PGCE course, straight into teaching. Along the way... contacting publishing agents for my poems/books :)

If I went down the educational psychology route I'd love to do educational research (kinda comes with the job), it's probably the side of me that's interested in abnormal psychology that suggest if I was to do educational research I'd do research into punishing/rewarding children in the educational environment and research into dealing with and labelling 'problem' children.

I have 2 things I might try and do, one more serious and one more of a fall back job, I think it will be. Basically I plan to do politics and computing in college which will lead to politics of some sort in university whilst possibly creating some indie games to get some money from self-teaching. However if I detest politics in college then I will probably do game development in uni. However I plan to self teach myself game development to potentially make some money out of it, and for fun. In fact I'm literally just looking for some good resources atm and plan to start self teaching after the exam period. However I realise this could all change. The only thing I fear with politics though is I don't have a flaming **** how you get into it.

I pretty much know how im gonna spend my life. Finish college, get 3 As/A*s, hopefully get into oxford, if not another university (ive got all my choices planned :D), study computer science there. Do well in that hopefully, and then get a job as a software engineer. Hopefully some internships and experience along the way also. Then spend the rest of my life havin fun in that. My mentor has said though thats it pretty easy to transition into finance though from software engineering, and the money is REALLY good (albeit it incredibly stressful), so i could just do that for a few years in my twenties, then just enjoy my life doing something i enjoy (software engineering) for the rest so ill have a good income as well as some money saved up for a few extras. Totally sorted mate.

Yes I'd be quite intrigued by labelling theory research too. I'd maybe take a step back and look at more philosophy of education rather than psychology but the two don't have to be seperate really. :D

You should get in if they listen to the coalition - they would be breaking rules if they didn't let every Asian in, in the world that applies haha

Good luck at getting in to Oxford though, I hope you get in :) Where would you like to go if you can't get in to Oxford?

I wanna go to college and get as high level in hairdressing as I can before I start working as a hair dresser. In England I want to work for other people then when my boyfriends trained for the job he wants (game concept designer) we want to move to America so he can find work easier so I'd like to have enough money to open my own salon over there.

Eugh I srsly cannot be the only person that doesn't have even the smallest clue. Right now I'm leaning towards becoming a hermit or a high end prostitute.

One of my dads clients (he used to be an accountant at Natwest) was a "high-end Prostitue"

She went to the top hotels, where (mainly) arab men paid her £15-£30 Thousand for one night of sex with her. If they liked her, they would buy her presents such as ferraris as thank yous.

Certainly a good job for a girl :L

Well hopefully I'll be off to Bradford University next year to study computer animation. That course lasts 3 years. Then I may do a masters degree in special effects. Hopefully this will then lead me onto a film industry job. Maybe if I'm lucky (I mean, really lucky!) even moving to America and working for Pixar or Dreamworks. If not, then I want to move to Canada and get a job in one of the many companies out there :)

Then it's all down to... Getting rich. Yes I will :)

I've pretty much planned my life - assuming it all goes correctly.

Pass GCSEs - minimum of A in all subjects. A* in most.
Do A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Economics, and one of Drama, Physics or French (haven't decided)
Go to Cambridge and study for a degree in Mathematics or economics (haven't decided which)
Get a job as an investment banker, work my way up the ranks.
Somewhere around the age of 25-30 get married, have a few kids.
Once I reach the top of investment banker, move to hedge fund management. Earn my $$$.
Retire at 50 in a mansion in America.
Sorted ;)

I'm at university, my first year. I'm working on three bachelor's degrees: geology, evolutionary biology and mathematics.
I plan to pursue geology on at a graduate level, getting my master's and hopefully doctorate one day. The latter two are more out of interest, although perhaps I can intertwine them into what I'm doing, I don't doubt that they'll be useful.

As for after, I don't know, I'm guessing I'll discover my more esoteric interests within the fields as I progress further and further into my degrees, because at the moment I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with them. Some sort of research, for sure, and I'd love a teaching post at a university, but that's pretty ambitious.

Very risky life, Robbie! My old Maths teachers cousin is a hedge fund manager. Can't remember his name - he earns hundreds of millions a year, but gives the majority to Charity. Done a quick search, I believe it is this guy: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1197623/Financier-gives-499-million-charity-needy-children.html

I wouldn't bother with Drama with what you want to do - I have chosen to give up studying music (despite being grade3, 5, 6, and 4 - and studying grade 8 bass). I don't want to continue it further on it to life, so won't be bothering. Good luck in getting to Cambridge Robbie :) x

Yeah it's going to be risky but if it goes wrong I have a few back up plans. I really want to take Drama A level because I've never heard a bad word about it but as you said, it doesn't fit with where I want to go.
If my life of ludicrous money managing goes wrong I plan to be a teacher or a politician >;P If not, financial advisor I guess.

Well i am in year 12, so have about 13 months left at school which is scary because it's gone so fast and i dare say it will just keep getting faster.

I want to go to uni to study psychology or law at Cam, UCL or Manc and want to do some form of teaching english abroad at some point in the Caribbean or something.

finish my masters engineering degree then decide whether to work for a chartered status or decide whether to follow a career in finance.

I would love to become an airline pilot, so hopefully after college, I will either go to uni or go to the Oxford Aviation Academy. However, if I get lucky, I will join an airline funded scheme that will train me to become a pilot and once I have my license, I can automatically work for that airline, however, there aren't alot of these schemes about and getting a place in one, is really tough! :P

I have no idea what I want to do. I know what course I'd like to do at uni but I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with it. I have all summer to decide what course I want to do at uni so I'll guess I'll make a decision after I get my grades. I get really scared just thinking about the future, I'd rather just see what happens when the time comes xD

Complete my two novels, when I have a finished manuscript contact the literary agent who was interested in me. Other than that, keep *REMOVED* trying until I get published. Failing that? Maybe do something for my Dad's company. If that fails, legal secretary.

good luck getting into cambridge you have planned that far ahead to say you haven't even got your GCSEs yet.

Also i've started the application process to cam but seriously considering just going to manchester it looks like an awesome place to live and a sweet uni whereas cam i fear is a bit sheltered and slightly boring maybe?

In the future I want to be a Police Constable in my area. This is and has been my dream job since the early stages of my high school days. Each day in the Police is supposed to be different in it's own way and it's the only career I can realistically see me pursuing in. I know it may be until 2015 till the government starts recruiting more full-time regulars but in the mean time I'm in the application process of being a Special Constable. This is a voluntary officer who works over 16+ hours a month. In terms of gaining experience, this role is the best possible solution for me to have a better chance of becoming a regular in the future, providing I pass this application process. Tomorrow I have the PIRT which stands for the Police Initial Recruitment Test which is based at the HQ in town. This is just a few basic Math, English and verbal reasoning tests which does sound straight forward. If I pass the test tomorrow then the next stage would be the Formal Interview. This is the killer part of the process and the most crucial. I'm very determined to make it through as a Special so I can kick start a career in the uniformed services.

At the moment, though, I'm still at college studying a Public Services course at A Level (level 3). I hope to come out of this year with the qualification behind my back. In the next academic year I'm looking to do a Crime Scene Photography course, I've not looked into it with great detail but I think it might be a useful course to take on board.

Dunno. Have 2 days to accept an offer from one of Edinburgh, Glasgow or St Andrews to study Maths and Chemistry: neither of which I really care about. And there's not going to be any job when I come out the other end. OH WELL. :(
