Just wanted to get this in, what a fantastic idea :) http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=697720 for information on the event thing.
I will enter competitions, and perhaps log on to Habbo to take part, thanks to Pyroka for donating a throne, OrientalFrame for donating 20 credits and Alex3213 for donating everything else.
The competition will be fun, it is a shame you couldn't add a chance to win if people bought VIP (obviously with Habbos rules this cannot be done). A really nice idea, obviously taken from the thing McDonalds and other companies do.
Good luck running this x
What are all your thoughts on this competition?

You get a card for every 2 competitions you enter during May. Therefore, the maximum cards you can get from the COMPETITIONS DEPARTMENT is 21. :)
As you are fully aware Mike, I have great support in this and I think it's a good mimic of something which already happens in real life and moving it to a Habbo-form (even though the actual competition requires nothing to do with Habbo!) Someone mentioned in the Q2 - Feedback Thread that they wanted "competitions with bigger prizes" - hopefully this suits them. ;)
EDIT: Like David said a huge graphics request went into this so well done to the graphics dept. - I think the board especially looks lovely. :)

I think it's a wonderful idea, something that hasn't been done before I can see it being quite successful :)

Very well organized and I think the graphics department deserves some recognition for taking so much time to create and design all the graphics for it - there was a lot.

An absolutely stunning, innovative competition. Way to go to all involved. :D

This is the first of a series of competitions/events/things that presents larger prizes from Habbox - something we seem to come under a lot of of fire for as the world of Habbo's economy seems to have flown up from the days where HC sofas were "excellent" competition prizes :P
Other sites for some time now have had the upper hand in terms of prizes however this is the first example of Habbox fighting back and there's much more to come, with us having acquired quite a few donations to sustain some bigger prizes for a while.
A huge well done to Inseriousity for this, I hope it pans out well!

Thank you. I don't know about anyone else but whenever the McDonalds version comes out, I desperately try to get that bloody Mayfair and thought it would be an idea that would translate well over to Habbox if the prizes were available so thank you to all those who donated!
And a thank you to the Graphics department for bringing it to life. :)
That's awesome. Didn't expect a a shoutout though, considering I donated that throne to Alex3213 for his birthday yer cheeky buggers. :P
But yeah I won't play it but it looks awesome and being someone who plays the irl version alot (im fat irl because of it) it's cool to see it in habbo form.
Whoa this is great. Hopefully I'll take part :)

Sounds like a great idea. I'll probably be too busy this month to take part, but if i had time i sure would.
I actually like how there is a THRONE offered as a prize in this competition. It's good to see something different from just the normal rep/vip.
@Competitions Staff; YOUR AVERAGE ENTRIES ARE GOING TO BE THROUGH THE ROOF THIS MONTH!! o.O

I THOUGHT THIS... next month's targets are going to be IMPOSSIBLE XD
Huge thanks to everyone who donated, not just the 3 (especially ryan, huge donation, thanks), but everyone else who contributes, not only to the monopoly, but who keeps us running every month! I'd love to see things like this run more often, but we simply can't afford it - I suppose it makes it more special. Good luck to anyone who enters!

Havr you ever asked for donations?
I am pretty sure a number of us on Habbox have 'secret' storage of stuff that we would give.

I love this idea, I will probably enter as much as I can. Great to see big prizes, and if there was big prizes all the time we would eventually run out and have nothing :(
Thanks to all donators!!

Who knows, if there was an appeal before I did my lotteries Hx might have got all of it x
Who knows, might have some stuff left for future things xxxxxxxxx

May I ask how many prizes there are (has anyone counted)?
And can people win like 20 prizes if they are lucky?

We don't want, or need, to beg, or appear to beg, our members for things. We have enough to get by... donations should be completely voluntary, and not persuaded by staff posting "DONATIONZ PLZ" on the forum every month.

I guess we will disagree here, I always go by "if you don't ask, you don't get".
I can see why you don't want to ask but perhaps donations could be encouraged? EG. Donations towards HxSS.
If you asked, I bet you would get.

I do agree with you, but we do still 'get' now, when we don't explicitly ask. It might be something that would fit better for such a big competition like the SS or EE. However, if some departments took this idea, then I guess I'm afraid it'll evolve into constant begging, when I think we have just about enough now.
For anyone who likes that sorta stuff, you're gonna love what I plan to give for the Habbox Summer Spectacular. Far off I know, but it's something I enjoyed alot and didn't necessarily get the attention around Habbo it deserved. Bets Phil is going to be hounding me to tell him what hahaha. But yeah like, may even be worth in future years perhaps using the usersystem on Habbox.com to create an internet-based Monopoly board with all the said elements, but instead just putting them somewhere where they can actually be accessed and viewed in a clever manner. It's not like this'll be the last time you do this event... Well, it wasnt on Mcdonalds' mind at the time :P

Fair enough :)
Just when HxSS comes around, why not put a little message up - who knows you might get a few thrones off me, and surely I won't be the only one who would donate towards it :P

Yes and no. In theory, yes they can. In deeper theory, they will not be able to win that many tickets because that'll require a hell of a lot of sets which they're unlikely to get.
There are 150 prizes I believe, although the only one which will definitely disappear is the Throne. The rest are 'in the air'.
There is a total of 500 rep, 7 months VIP, 30 HC Sofas, 350 credits and 1 throne possibly being given out.
In addition, a total of 10 Bronze/Silver Habbox Competition Awards could be given out and 5 Gold Habbox Competition Awards also.
Also what Laura said on post 20 is something I agree with and that's why Habbox don't actually ask for donations apart from a very small message on the site and in the Donations Thread, if it's still there.
At Ryan, dare I say it but I hope this is the only time this event is held, whether there's variations of it with slight changes is another matter. I worked in the Comps Dept for about 20 months I think it was and what I learned there was new, fresh (lame humour too ). It's not something I'd like to see again, it's a great idea but I just love new things and I know Mike has a hell of a lot of them.

Replace the word "begging" with "advertising" and you've got it dead on.

I think this is something that GM need to think about... especially seeing as you've explicitly said that you'd give if you realise we needed it - who knows how many other members are like you?

I asked for a divorce and I ******* got it.
Normal staff wouldn't advertise for donations btw, that would make it insane.
I guess you might get something come HxSS

Exactly. Especially older members I think.
I know I am not the only one who stopped donating at one stage as we never knew what our donations actually went to (and I think some of them did sadly just go to old GMs accounts and stay there).
However, if it was said what sort of things it would go to, I am sure people would be interested in helping the fansite.

I asked for donations in the Habbox Monopoly thread and it's definitely something I'd do in the future. There are lots of people who are rich, never really play Habbo and just keep their furni for old times sake and I do think they need a little nudge nudge wink wink in the right direction every now and again. :)

I don't think there's much wrong in asking for donations, I will quite simply ask for donations without thinking twice about it because in this day and age it takes a lot to run a fansite, unfortunately the days in which prizes are cheap and easy to obtain and people are wanting bigger things like this monopoly competition on a more regular basis, think about how much that costs to fund.
I really don't get it.:( Have never played this version of it irl and haven't played the boardgame for probably almost a decade. What do you do once you've earned a card? Can somebody earn the same card as you? :S:S

What happens is you get cards but you need to get a set of cards (there's a list of which set is which in the main thread) to win a prize. Prizes are limited so it's a race with everyone else to get the set of cards as quickly as possible. This is obviously easier said than done as you can get the same card twice or spend forever waiting for 1 card.
And yes, somebody else can earn the same card as you. It's a race to get the whole set first. For example, there's only 1 throne to win. That means to win the throne you need to get the cards '-fire-girl-' (Park Lane) and 'Inseriousity.' (Mayfair) first. Again, easier said than done but not impossible :D

I am pleased to hear you plan to donate for the HxSS, Ryan as we are looking into putting very large prizes into that this year, however you mention Phil in there, Phil doesn't run the HxSS - Martin'll be doing that so anybody who wishes to donate to Martin for the HxSS over the next few months please do, we really want to launch HxSS with a bang this year it'll be bigger and better than ever (hopefully) with some absolutely massive prizes.

This is exciting.
If you want to launch it with a bang, if one of the members here happened to give a throne, would you be able to give that away at the start to launch HxSS.

Also, Ryan stop trying to make sure you don't get banned xx :P
