I'm on mixed feelings - yes it in a bit of fun but I am against judging on looks. It's not proving to be as successful as I thought really as well.
Other thoughts? I thought last year we decent as we had a few really pretty/nice people but I can't see it happening this year.
it's been going for a few hours, give it a chance
Inseriousity.

Well I've got no chance at winning LOL but not really got a problem with a competition based on looks just cos I ain't got any :P
Anyway, yeah it's not been open for long. If it doesn't work as well as last year I'm sure it won't be done again but I can remember last year's so it's not surprising it was done again. :)

I swear it was a popularity competition last year, not a "beauty contest"

I'm with Myke :P People have got a week to post pictures and I think maybe people were hesitant to post as they didn't want to be the first to do it. Last year's was successful so there was no harm in trying it again.

And you're talking about people judging on looks and you made that comment? :P
It's something that is a bit of fun if loads of people don't enter it isn't the end of the world! Like the others have said it's only been open a few hours :P

I didn't like it last year so obviously I'm not going to like it this year. The internet to me is a place to get away from physical judgement and doing stuff like this just makes it worse. I'm not being bias because I'm not good looking, even if I was I'd prefer the internet to be a place that stays away from all the reality malarkey such as physical judgement. I love having a place to chat where people don't just judge people from looks "Oh Chav, Geek, Ugly". With the internet it's based firstly on your personality. If I had the choice the internet and reality wouldn't clash.
I'm just a little concerned to what some parents would think, I'd prefer my son/daughter to see swearing on a forum rather than be hinted or even peer pressured by other members into posting pictures of themselves, after all it is a public forum, anyone could sign up, including paedophiles. The forum is regularly monitored and although the images may not be in a sexual sense I still feel kids shouldn't be able to post pictures of themselves. I remember I was all for "pictures on your avatar" then changed my mind at the last second for the same reasons.
Best of luck to whoever wins but I'm totally against it.

To be honest it is up to the member them self whether they post a picture or not and you'll probably find the people who do enter are people who frequent in the Post a picture of yourself thread so I don't think it's really fair to say that members are being pressured into posting a picture it is up to them at the end of the day.

That's fair enough but with that said does that mean if your friends ask you to drink alcohol and you say no because you don't drink yet they continue by saying "it's only a bit of fun" is that acceptable? Yes people have asked me to post pictures and at 19 I feel somewhat peer pressured.

As much as I actually agree with this Richie, think about all those parents that actually enter their kids into things like this in real life.
Unfortunately in this day and age looks is a big thing and whilst I agree that promoting this isn't the best way about it it's something that isn't going to go away so Habbox may as well play it to their advantage, if you don't want to participate then do not participate. Post a picture is one of the most popular threads on HabboxForum so it's clear that people at HabboxForum like posting pictures of themselves, so why not let them attempt to win a competition doing it?
Hopefully this year won't be ruined by someone cheating.

Scott, I'm not really judging because I think the finalists last year were pretty? That's called giving a compliment :S judging is when you get on the negative side and say they are ugly, or someone is prettier than the next person. I fail to see how I judged in my post - it was a compliment.

I'm not saying HxF is ugly, where did the word ugly or that it will fully fail come up in my posts? I'm saying we had a few more good looking people than we do this year - as they have all left or been banned. Stop twisting my words please.
And Rosie, I'm saying it won't be as good as last year as people seem to have changed opinions towards beauty contests, as apparently some users seemed to be paying for votes.

I think way too many people are moaning over one petty thing. Fair enough about the posting competition, perhaps that didn't go too well but this Beauty Content is purely for fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously.
If you have a problem with it then don't vote or enter..

And Shaz, how do you know that HxF has no good looking people this year? You never know, someone who hardly posts on the forum may enter and looks beautiful.

nobody's twisting your words, you clearly said that you can't see a pretty/nice people winning this year, therefore meaning there's no hot people here therefore you're saying they're all ugly. therefore, nobody is therefore twisting your words, therefore i like the word therefore.

does it really matter tho :S idk if it's because i'm rly carefree about what occurs on this forum, but from what i see from what the staff are saying, it's some lighthearted fun/competition. don't like it, just ignore it. sure people shouldn't be judged on their appearance, but ~news flash~ everyone judges everyone based upon what they're given - so their appearance isn't nothing new. people don't have to participate and i'm sure those who are, know what they're getting themselves into.
oh and in regards to this being a popularity contest (idk if it's been mentioned, probably has, probably will) - it obviously is one - but once again, who gives a **** lol. not like what occurs on this forum has any significance to anyones lives (and if it does, you better look in that mirror and re-evaluate your life).

I'm going to say it once, YES we have pretty people here at Habbox (someone quote me for being judgemental here) and I know who they are, but the fact is they are less than likely to enter for a month of VIP. And why? Because everyone is against them now - where do I get this? A debate came up about it not so long ago. And that, is why I think it will more or less fail.
Also with the fact users were suspected of paying of votes last year - that adds to it. SO NO I DONT THINK WE ARE UGLY - I just don't think people will enter due to personal opinions.

Nobody likes that people get judged on their looks anymore, which is why I think everyone is put off entering. I've got this from the debate and a fair few people saying it to me.

then surely those who don't want to be judged on their looks simply wouldn't enter and those who don't mind, would :S i'm really failing to see where this is going lol.

the whole judging thing is just the same as that hxf awards thing, it's a popularity contest (obv, if it was on looks i would've won:S:S). people will vote for each other, it doesn't matter if it's just the "ugly" members who post, last year it was only really spam members. at least now more people are taking part. who cares if it's not the same people as last year... won't make it any less successfull. of course people don't like being judged on looks if it's /negative/ which the comments here are but obviously it's not stopping people from entering.
once your pictures are on the internet, which i'm sure most people's are ie facebook, then it's accessible to anyone. so "peadophilles could see" really isn't a valid argument. that's your own/parent's choice.

so arent you going to go outside the door?
first thing people do when they see you is judge you, welcome to earth

I'm all for judging people on their looks but we're not really allowed to do so - if I was to give my actual opinion of people according to the aesthetics they command I would promptly be silenced by moderation/management under bullying rules despite the fact that entrants have clearly given up their images to scrutiny at the hands of us members, as per the ideals of the competition that is now under way. I'd say that rather than discredit the competition itself, allow us to give our HONEST opinions rather than have everyone say how FIT!TTT! their friends are and then we'll see who wants to join in
i hope there are some sexy underrage men in this contest for me to get excited about.

Exactly.
If you point out someone is 'ugly' you are bullying (despite the fact they may be), yet you can say 'I WOULD!!' and that is fine.

If people don't like it then don't go in the thread. I'm sure the winners will be very proud. Afterall , it's definitely something to tell their children later in life.

Shaz the guy isn't twisting your words, you just write very vaguely and almost seem like youre insinuating.
I'm not bothered, I won't be entering I've already got a trophy saying I'm the fittest man on earth (just kidding). Dunno why people have to complain that theyre aginst it though, yeah Leah rigged it so that she got the most votes, she's a ex-DJ, she knows how to get votes I mean how do you think DJ of the week worked lol?
If anything you may get someone whos genuinely pretty or handsome this year... sorry Leah if you read this but your forehead doesn't attract me. Neway, you've got the choice to enter you're not being forced to so don't preach like a bible basher like "NO THIS IS WRONG AND I DONT LIKE IT"... Habbox is putting on things for the forum, if you don't like it don't look at it lol.

Indeed, I think I'm with you on this one, Richie. There's nothing like a good thread to boost (or indeed shatter) one's ego is there? :P The internet and reality should be two completely different entities in my opinion. What happens online stays online.
On that note however, Richie for Mr Habbox Forum 2011 (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=698034&p=7098952#post7098952)!!
