Glasses

Maybe I'm just being silly but for a few years I always needed glasses and over that period of time my eye sight didn't really change, it was always pretty much the same. Just before christmas I got a pair of glasses and now when I take them off I find it pretty hard to read anything, my eyes strain.


Wearing glasses, is it really worth it?

I don't believe in medication, in the long run it makes things worse and I sorta feel the same way with glasses. I wonder if it is really just a big scheme to get us to purchase glasses. Sure enough they help your eyes but in the long run it makes things worse.

I have to wear glasses for driving and tv but I only wear them for that. I do think unless you are told to wear them all the time it can lead to a weakness of the eyes.

I was told to wear mine as much as possible but all it seems to do is weaken my eye sight, I'm really annoyed now because I can't just scrap the glasses, I won't be able to read much. I can read text like this but it strains my eyes and I get lost in a sentence, if that makes sense.

I wear glasses and my eyesight has also gotten worse. My eye doctor actually told me this would happen, but I would rather have good vision with glasses even if it does mean my vision without them gets worse. I really need them for pretty much everything I do, so I will just have to live with the bad eyesight without them. I think it is worth it in the long run, depending on how bad your vision was before you got glasses really.

init same. My glasses are an absolute god send.

I can go to the cinema
I can see the board in school
I can watch tv
I can do lots of other stuff like SEEING things far away

I agree, wearing them all the time does make ya eyesight worse but meh it's a side effect I can take

I have to wear glasses all the time because all I can see are really fuzzy colours without them so I don't really have a choice. You really should wear them as much as possible because as you get older your eye sight deteriorates anyway and not wearing them can lead to headaches/migranes. :)

I wear my glasses all the time, at first in year 7 - like 5 years ago I didn't wear them all the time, but then I just cba taking them off at all and now i wear them full time, my eye sight has got worse over the years and I feel it's levelling off now, however, I don't think wearing them all the time hindered me or made it worse because if I didn't wear them I couldn't see anyway. It could just be because my eyes are worse, if I'm on webcam or want to clean my glasses I take them off then find it's hard to read the HxF text myself so I think it could be your eyes getting back to where they were before you put the glasses on on that day. Not sure.

I think it's worth it to wear glasses as laser eye surgery can go dramatically wrong and your eyes are never fully healed from it as they deteriorate again.
I think it's worth it anyway.

I only wear contacts. My eyes aren't very weak, so if i'm not wearing my contacts i don't wear glasses anyway.

When i get older i'll probably get laser eye surgery anyway. Lots of people i know have gotten it done. It's really a lot safer than it used to be. The percentage rate for complications is disputed a bit (between 1%-4%)

Ever heard of the expression - It's got to get worse it get better? Mine use to do that I was like wtf why are you making me wear these they don't even work! but in fact it has improved.

I wear glasses all the time except now I'm starting to make myself go without because I hate them. I use them when having to read or look at stuff that's not very clear but if I'm just in lessons do writing I take them off.

Oh and I wear them when watching TV/on computer

I wear glasses for reading stuff from a long distance, watching TV, on the computer. I have realized they've made my eyesight when not having them on a bit poor.

There a lifesaver! I'm going to get contacts before I start college.
