I know I've made a hell of allot of feedback but I've just started to notice things. The joke forum seems pretty much dead, I don't mean to shoot down another forum but is it really worth the space? can't people just post their jokes in spam? after all they are pretty much pointless.

When the runescape section was as bad as the joke section it got removed and if anything there is a few jokes a week, which is pointless.

Thoughts?

When I removed it people only moaned it was gone, although I agree that jokes could be posted in spam, Richie.

The forum is quite dead in general tbh, the general demographic is people doing A Levels so it's hardly surprising but Discuss Anything, Debates and Current Affairs have had barely any posts I've noticed :(

Unfortunately, they (can't remember who did it) killed the Jokes forum when it was removed previously. It happens to every forum they remove and then bring back.

It didn't get killed by being removed, lol when it was removed it got even less posts than it does now - it shouldn't have ever been brought back.

Maybe it was brought back for the lols as a joke, see how I did that?

Yeah I agree; should be moved to spam; or people can just use the spam forum for it.

Tbh, all jokes are in the spam section anyways.

Good idea :P

I don't mind removing this forum if I'm perfectly honest, I don't see any harm with jokes being posted in Spam and as you've said a lot get posted in there anyway. Maybe we should see how other members feel about this too.

The only time it seems to be used is for sick jokes when somebody famous dies, really. :P
As post counts do not increase then Spam is probably the best place.

I always thought that there should be post count in this forum. It would encourage people to post humourous things and it would liven up the forum a bit in my opinion.

If your not going to implement post count in it though, then you might as well merge it with spam.

Some might say the forum itself is the joke.

I used to count towards the users post count but it was disabled because people just started posting "lol i find dat funi" or something in like all the threads to get their post count up.

I was given this argument before, but i find it a bit silly to be honest.

I mean you might then just say disable post count in the welcome forum because loads of people just post "welcome". Just use the same moderation of pointless posts in that forum like all other forums.

What else is there to post as a reply to a joke thread other than whether you found it funny or didn't? :S

Merge it with or give it its own subsection in spam

I don't really see much of a problem if somebody gets a +1 post for saying a joke is funny or not. People get +1 posts for saying if they like rooms or not in the cool rooms section do they not? But anyway,

Well you can add to it, explain etc. To be honest a load of threads on here give very limited responses. What else can you say in the welcome/leaving forums apart from expanding on "welcome". People usualy expand on their answers or at least they should. With the logic your giving me, a lot of threads that currently aren't in spam should be moved there. I'm looking at "new posts" right now and i see a lot of threads that offer limited responses.

Yes, a lot of the threads are rather pointless but having them all in spam would just be stupid. There are rules in place in sections with these sorts of threads that prevent users from making spam posts. For example in the graphics and cool rooms section there are rules that all replies must be constructive and if you aren't going to post in a certain manner that you shouldn't post at all. Admittedly the mods in these sections are very liberal and I don't often see people getting warned/infracted for posting "gr8 room" or "that graphic is bad" but allowing post count in the jokes forum is just going to encourage pointless posting for postcount even more.

As somebody that clearly refreshes the new posts section every minute I'm sure you'll agree that if you see a joke thread and you know that you're going to get post count for reading it and posting a short reply then you're most certainly not going to pass up that chance.

I'm not too sure what your implying by that last part... Anyway to avoid an argument i'll stick to the topic. What you are saying is not entirely true. The jokes section in this case is actualy very comparable to the cool rooms section. In the cool rooms section there are always a ton of people who simply post things like "nice room" all the time and get away with it. Whenever i posts there (although i don't post there as often as i used to), i enlarge my comment by stating what i liked about the post/room etc. I never post small pointless comments here, even though i know fully well i can get away with it. If these forums were moderated in the same way there wouldn't be a problem.

You can get post count for posting short replies in many more places than the jokes section. Unless the mods are going to crack down on post content in other sections, then post counts in the joke section isn't a bad or unusal thing at all. Just introduce some posting rules like there is in every section of the forum and moderate the jokes forum properly
