View Full Version : Why doesn't everyone become a scammer?

I don't get annoyed by getting scammed, I get annoyed how Habbo say you are not allowed but when people do it, they turn a blind eye and don't give a "bobba" :@

I'm honestly tempted to just make other accounts and do it cos you can get away with it and make credits.

Don't you guys agree that Habbo is mucked up and allows scammers to continue and bans others for making scam rooms :@

PS. I'm nice so I won't scam xx :)

If you want to make a decent profit you won't via scamming normally.

Obviously you can deal in a casino and scam a bet. But you then need to buy rights, which costs enough anyway.

Most the standard scammers don't make enough to make it worth it (well in my opinion scamming 10c every few days is not worth the effort)

Inseriousity.

My brother made his furni through scamming but then he lost it all in a scam from someone else. What goes around comes around!

Also yeah it's not really worth it until you're rich enough to scam the bigger amounts but the hard part is to get up to that point without scamming (in which time what's the point? you've got rich via legitimate means so you might as well continue with that instead)

Habbo not caring annoys me beyond words, Hobbas didn't even get paid and they cared. God knows some currents don't.

I know of one particular user who actually scammed many people of a fair few thrones, however because the user was so popular, no one believed the people who the user scammed.

Sophisticated scammers (not the amateur "tell me your pw" tricks scams) can make a lot more than anybody can make legitimately in most games. A prime example of this is nearly every MMO out there, but a good few habbo users ( most of the the habbo blackmarket sellers) also would make it big through scamming.

The reason i don't scam is because of the morality of it rather than the fear of being caught. I know how bad it feels to be scammed and i learned this very early on.

I do hope you are not accusing most blackmarket sellers of being scammers x

Not small or even medium size sellers perhaps. But most of the big time sellers certainly are. I think i had a discussion about this before and i pointed out that the amount of big bet casinos and their usage versus the amount that big sellers seem to constantly put on the market just doesn't add up.

Blackmarket selling is good for people who want to leave and rather have real life cash.

All the times I get scammed, is from grabbers with the obvious win and ban scam. I find it annoying because there are grabbers that are like 1 sack per go, and you can just get a clone or friend to act as if they win, and they can show it. After this, people pay and get kicked. The owner can make loads and keep banning people :l

Buy one hundred thrones at £x then sell at x + 3 = big profit, lots of thrones.

They are not scammers, many are hackers though.

There is so much scamming that goes on Habbo for RS and vice versa. Zayt's room has so many scammers in it who get on the "trusted" list and then scam the hell outta people.

I've been there, done it, got the T-shirt. More mature now, I'd rather have friendship than pixels.

Here here. I've never scammed people - I used accelerators, but the Habbos never knew.

I actually can't scam. I feel too bad, because I know what it's like to be scammed, scammed like all my stuff as well. :(

Agreed, tbh the friends you meet online are unlikely to meet up with you and be r/l friends but I get your point. I don't scam and won't scam but some people just get away with it. The thing that ticks me off is when someone scams me like 2c, they ban me, I keep going to their rooms and getting banned and all I ask is for my credits back. Also this guy who was called (can't say it incase I get banned from forum LOL) whispered something like, "HAHAHA SUCKER, I'M GOING TO KEEP CHANGING ACCOUNTS AND SCAM YOU TILL YOU HAVE NOTHING!". That annoys me that he can actually do that ;l

You remind me of someone from history...
Can't get his name right..

Back in the day, I scammed once, and then got backhanded with a ban. Was disheartening, but for the longest time I never understood what I did wrong. Till 5 years later, I remember doing a FF scam with my friend.. /heartless.

I would probably still do it today. I'm still as heartless. It'd not be my fault that the person wasn't smart enough, I just don't do it. I'd prefer to prevent scams, and hacks, then to cause them. I'd rather use my knowledge to better help others, then cause harm.

I think everyone, at some point in their history on Habbo, has had a phase where they tried to scam people.

The reason why everyone isn't a scammer is being they would completely loose their rep if people found out they scammed, so yeah you maybe rich... but you have no 'real' friends in the game

Yes, but that's why people make secondary accounts :S

Scammers are pathetic its only virtual furni and its not like you will play habbo for life
unless you are that bored

The problem is there isn't really any disincentive on Habbo for people to stop scamming. The only reason why I don't scam is because I have been scammed twice and I wouldn't want to put other people in that same exprience.

The only real action we can all take is educate ourselves on the abundance of scams and take precuations. e.g. bet what you dont mind losing, videoing via hypercam, post recent scams on the forum.

This really annoys me, especially when they say it's your own fault. Like okay, fair enough if you got scammed but if you got hacked then how the hell is that your own fault? :S It really annoyed me once when I got hacked and I knew the person that did this, they were stalking me all week and then I go to his room and see all my furni in his room and whilst this was happening I quickly asked for help from MOD's and they replied saying they can't do anything, even though he was doing it right there and then, pathetic. We should get a petition going so that if you record/screeny or have some other form of proof of you getting scammed/hacked, then we should just be able to send it off to Habbo and they should deal with it by banning the person and returning the furni, this will reduce the amount of scams & everyone's happy. They don't realise that some people dedicate their lives to Habbo, spending credits, building rooms or doing what ever they do, all day and for them to lose that, is like losing everything and its pathetic that they don't do anything about it.

Everyone? I've been scammed at least twice, had my account stolen by a member of this forum, and NO I have never scammed or stolen from anyone.

You should NEVER gamble what you can't afford to lose. If you must gamble then opt for a trusted well known dealer. Does Habbox have a casino? If not why not ;)

Ikr, there should be a Habbox casino where you can only buy rights if you are known to be trusted. That would pwn as an official room :D

But it would be better with an official member of Habbox Staff.

Sierk in his day ran an excellent casino, I won a little and lost a bit too. But it was clean good fun. 10 or so of us would all gamble with him at the same time. Memories fade, but the system he used and those gambling knew it wasn't rigged and it worked.

Yeah but what is trusted? Someone who I always thought was completely safe scammed a member of the RV team one throne once - never did it to me, or the person since - and I know for a fact the user scammed a whole lot more on previous accounts. But he was seen as perfectly safe. The danger is, if someone has rights and they then get angry over something, lets get our revenge 'scams'. Then Habbox loses reputation.

I mean I know I would never scam a casino bet - but I also know for a fact few would trust me with a throne bet (I can think of five who have, and annoyingly I lost and paid each one!) But how can I prove to you I am trusted? Pay one throne bet in front of everyone? That means jack all if you then scam five bets with rights.

i should have phrased my post a little different tbh i should have said 'alot of people' rather than everyone.

And you are correct, only gamble what you can afford to loose, that way you don't feel 'scammed'

I did have a casino at one point, and it soon became the 'Habbox Casino'. It didn't last long because i wanted to use the furni for something else. I may turn a room i'm currently building into a casino and donate it's use to Habbox, i don't 'play' on Habbo much at all anymore so i can just leave the room there.

I mean if it got mildly popular with Habbox User, like HxHD, with people in there every so often, it could soon become popular within Habbo itself and could attract people to Habbox that way.

I'll look into opening a Habbox Casino, i'll talk with Martin about it, as i've been a prominent figure in the Rare Values Department and the trading community for a while on Habbo, it seems a good idea for me to open one.
