Just generally wondering how many people actually have a CV.

If you do,

Is it just the paper type, 2 pieces of A4 (Normally) or is it un-original/creative.

Personally mine is basically a Cube, with previous designs as the background and text written/typed onto it, each side has different information personally i think its useful since every interview i've gone to virtually everyone have said it was creative

Its just 2 pieces of A4 paper really stating all my work experiences I have done and stuff..

Mine's just a double sided piece of paper with my qualifications and past experience on it because I want to be taken seriously. :S

I wrote mine out but haven't updated it in LONGGGGG. It's 2 pages long, but all fancy and stuff. I like change it when I apply for a job, using the interests/hobbies section!

They often do take me seriously.

However if its for the average job (aka a barman, which i work as for part time atm)
Ill send a Paper once, its only more creative industries where i will send 'The Cube'

If at this age you have more than one page then either you need to change the font size down or you've written far too much, as it's only going to be exceptional circumstances that require you to note down enough work experiences and institutes of education for an extra sheet. Having an "about me" section is totally unnecessary and makes the whole thing look rather informal

I was thinking exactly this. My CV is only one page of A4, and it's got everything I need on it.

My CV is one side of A4 and has a beautiful layout and some excellent font choices.

Probably not a great idea on a CV... but then again i suppose it is a job which may be relevant to what you are applying for :/

My full one is double sided but in most circumstances you only have to list interests, institutions and work experience relevant to whatever you're using it for to make it about one full A4 sheet.

I've had one for a while and in my opinion, it's vital. A friend suggested that I keep a spare copy in my bag with me so that if I walk into town and see a job opening in a window, I can hand it in with ease.

i could never send in a "cube" i would be laughed out of the building in my opinion. Just seems a bit try hardy?

Also to put on mine i wouldn't need 2 A4 i don't think unless i'm writing about stuff people don't care about. GCSE, Independent quals, AS, A, Work experience, prefect i think that's it...

Yeah, mine is a single side of A4 listing all my grades, experience, a blurb about me and some interests/activities :)

Mine is non-existent, which is a very very bad thing at 16. I think a cube is a bit mad, but if it works, it works I suppose. Has it actually landed you any opportunities so far?

i do indeed have 1. however for all the jobs ive applied for they use online application systems now so they dont actually want to see ur CV.

For a job i got in september working for an accountant firm didnt want to see my cv they just wanted u to answer there questions

I've considered writing one and I have started but never really actually done it, and never thought about the layout. I don't have any qualifications other than First Aid qualifcations & Music Grades as of yet so no point :P But I think once I've got my GCSEs I'll write one. Not that I'll need one to be a ski instructor (just a saturday job till Uni) but yh.

I dont hand it in for the average ordinary job such as accountancy or something like that

If its a creative job, from graphics, photography, Audio soundwaves, art etc, then ill hand it in, and the majority still get back to me with an arranged interview.
And its never been laughed at either in the creative industry

I used to have a quite decent one then lost it on my old PC, not needed one since then never handed one out, quite lucky how I got my current job and if I wanna work anywhere else I just have words with the owners of places :P DJing is quite informal in that way :D

I'll need to whip a new one up for over the summer though need to get a boring job for through the week :(

2 pages is quite excessive too, best thing to do is include a covering letter which would include an about you and interests which you then relate to the job you're applying too ;)

Yes...well I did anyway but Its about time I created a new one I think. Aha.

I've really not had much experience of writing drafts of CV's before, In School I was briefly taught what should go in a CV and how to structure one. However, this year at College, I have written one which is fairly basic but very good for a 1st attempt at one. I do plan to build on it and improve it. I've not yet had a job and I'm not planning on getting one at the moment due to that I've just applied for a 2 year course and I'm very happy at where I am currently in life. I will get a job one day though, just not within the next couple of years as I find that I would probably get side-tracked and lose all attention that I had to my college work.

Yeah I do, and I applied to be an apprentice for some web design company - they said that they wont take any interest in me if I do not have my own personal website.. :l So now i'm designing one!
