Recently I've been getting with a girl I've known for quite a while now, first time being last week at a friends' and the second tonight, when I picked her up from the town. It's all going pretty well and I am beginning to kind of like her.

However, there's a problem. She's actually the ex of a boy I was at school with. My relationship with him was not of "best buds", but I did speak to him a bit and got on well with him, but I never spoke to him or did anything with him at the weekend. It's also a bit weird for me and her (for now) because the majority of the time I've known her, she's been with him... and now she's with me (but I can get used to that).

Basically, I feel really bad, because it's his ex, but should I? After all, I wasn't that great friends with him plus, he ended it with her? I do want to carry on seeing her but at the same time, I'd rather not be on the wrong side of him because he is a good guy...

No what why would you feel bad? Relationships happen all the time when you're young and to restrict yourself when you hardly even knew the guy is silly. Obviously there's the bro code, but you said yourself you weren't best friends with this guy. Basically, its okay to feel kinda weird since you always saw them 2 together, but you shouldn't feel bad when they're not together, there's obviously a reason for that. If she was cheating on him then fair enough, but she isnt, so power on brother.

Are they together? No
Is it ok to get with her? Yes

Even if it was a real friend it shouldn't be a problem for you, it's not like you're saying you don't wanna be his friend because of her or anything and any problem he might have is his problem, not yours. The whole "omg you can't get with someone's ex" idea is stupid, unless you wanna somehow still be trying to pick up virgins when you're 50

I cannot see any reason at all to feel bad. An ex is an ex even if it was a friend of yours and I am sure he would not be bothered about it. Also you deserve something positive as I know things have not been so good for you in the recent path.

Thanks everyone, really means alot.

I've had a good hard think about it and I've come to the realisation that it doesn't particularly matter about him. I'd even go as far as saying that, now that school is over, it's unlikely that I'll even keep in contact with him.

I do really like her and I am going to commit to her, and see what happens! :)

That's a sensible decision, good on you :)

That's brilliant that you've came to that conclusion. I agree with all of the posts above!
