I'm on a contract with unlimited texts on O2, will I be charged anything for texting outside of the uk (but within europe)?

Yes I imagine it would! You should contact O2 for more information as every country is different :)

****. apparently from reading up it comes out of the package, 1 text = 4 when texting abroad, but I have unlimited texts so the charge wouldn't run out? :S

I'm guessing they're just giving you a rough guide as to how much it will cost you. You will be charged for texting another country.

Obviously if it's someone who lives in the UK and they're on holiday abroad, then you won't be charged any extra (but they will be charged to reply).

If it's unlimited, it typically means 9999 texts.

Agreed, and they will charge you extra for international texts.

They don't actually publish specific numbers but...

Unlimited allowances are subject to an excessive usage policy.

Too late now probably, but I couldn't imagine it would have charged you.
I'm on O2, pay as you go though, and I've got unlimited texts and web, and everytime I've been abroad, I haven't been charged.

And in my case, 'unlimited' means 12,000. :P
