I just thought I'd say, commendable department!

Your articles are frigging fantastic, they're enjoyable to read and have a great variety. I'll be honest I read through all of them the first time today and they're great!

Personally I'd say kthx and chickenfaces are the best.

Well done to all of you, enjoyable work and I never knew you could involve people so much with simple articles!

I agree apart from the fact that it's still got a very small number of staff and applications aren't even open! This means there is only an article a week or something and that's not great. But yes well done to the Articles section of the department. :)

even then, I'd rather they didn't push out a load of tosh. All their work is actually readable, no offence but for a good few years (and occasionally now if i catch an article... their news was awful!!)

Yeah they should recruit. If i had time and was allowed to write about the stuff i wanted to write about I'd apply.

So would I hence why I suggested more staff rather than an increased amount required per week :P

Yeah there's only Sam (Kfnx) actually in the deparment right now, so it's mainly me and her posting articles now, we've been posted away hence the lack of articles recently. I do love the articles deparent though, would love to get some more staff and articles!

Just senior writer it should be, that's what we both are. But, I stem from the articles part of the department though - that's where I was first hired - and Arthur from news, but once you get senior you can post anything, but from my experience they tend to stick to their original sections!

As far as I'm aware, you're allowed to write about anything you want in the articles department. I enjoy reading them every now and again. :)

Thank you, always nice to see feedback from someone who you wouldn't really associate with news, glad they are readable for you.

I'm not sure but maybe article applications will be open after the trialists have passed/failed, also, the news department has the oppurtunity to post articles as well and I remember lRhyss did a lot of this before he resigned!

The articles department is a great department, I know I get bored of it sometimes but something just drives me to do articles like I know I'll always get CC from each article I post same with my news articles.

To be honest Casnova, I'd never thought of posting about things I like, I usually post about my various holidays and mishaps that have occurred on them, you have gave me a great idea for this weeks article hope you skim over it at some point when I post it, thanks +rep.

well you might find someone who's interested in it :P
I like theology, for example. Not really something most people find interesting but I could still write about it! If it wasn't for the lack of time thing, I'd say give it a go and see!

Just seen this thread, thanks very much Allan, the department has improved a lot recently in both sections as we've really upped our game and expectations. It's lovely for someone to create a feedback thread about News & Articles every one if a while! :P

Yup I agree 100% that it's come a long way. However, I think the hits aren't that big and the department needs more of a push in terms of promotion, the news and articles department needs to get involved with the community as that's the way forward because articles are pointless if only about 10-20 people read them and no one comments. Just my suggestion ;).

We're aware and you wouldn't know about the hits of news today Grig, no one other than the admin team do, I think the only hits we can go by is visits to hx.com anyway. We do have some plans up our sleeves, which are currently being decided on by myself and David. Also, I think you'd find comments are on the up! We've also got some events and competitions coming up soon :)

Thanks for the feedback though!

I think the old Joomla site had hits, but those broke too :( so we didn't know either! Would be good if they could give you a hits counter so that you know :p.
