Do you guys believe there to be anything wrong with a 20 year old going out with a 17 year old? I can't seem to bring myself to tell my mates how old my girlfriend is, and they keep asking, I just don't feel comfortable telling them. I'm just happy she is 18 before my 21st, well she's 18 in like a month and a half. What your opinions?

nope not all. she's legal, you're legal... most 17 year old girls are mature that age so it's not like you're with a child and to be fair you're only 20, it's not that bad at all. i dated much older at her age, i wouldn't even go for anyone younger than 22! my friend is 18 engaged to a 29 year old but i don't think it's wrong/sick cause he's just as immature as a guy her age ;)

Personally i think its too young in most cases just cause of the maturity differences but if it works for you then no no problem.

Personally i dont think age is always something to go by.
I don't know if anyones heard of it but theres apprently a 'rule' when it comes to going out with someone, Half your age + 7 is the minimum,
In your case 17 is the minimum so your in on that side.

Wouldnt say its sumet to stick to tho, its like saying a 80 year old can go out with a 47 year old.

Nothing to be ashamed of with that age =].

If she's 18 soon, then it's not that big a deal. IMO, physical age doesn't matter - maturity does. Some younger girls might have a problem with dating older guys, and vice versa, but I don't really think it's specifically because of physical age.

Although yeah my parents would have a problem (I think) if I told them that mine's 20 tomorrow ;l - but it's my decision anyway.

I've met her parents, they're ok with it. Her ex is a year older than me anyway, and they had no problem with that. Just the rotten thing is he's my mate lol. Oh well, he don't mind.

Just wondering, I know roughly how old a few people who have replied were, and you were the first saying 'no' basically. I simply asked what people's views are, you said NO because of maturity level, therefore (no offence) your post isn't really relative, as I never mentioned about maturity, I was simply asking in general. I know I sound rude, not intended to be, and all this made sense in my head lol.

Stereotyping isn't good by the way, not everyone is of the same maturity as everyone else their age.

No I mean if they're fresh meat it's fine. If they're over 16 then age really has to come into consideration because they aren't nice fresh meat anymore and you don't wanna be with them when they're legal.

My mum is a bad example of this. She first got married to a man 10 years older, when she was 17. Then 2nd time she was the same age. Then thirdly (my dad) was 6 yrs younger and then now, she's 9 years senior!
