Sort of extreme really, and quite funny Bill Gate's kids asked for an iPod!

If I was I could deflect your accusations by posting a link to the other thread, but no. Stop assuming I hate Microsoft you jerks! I think it's just funny/interesting.

^ You do hate Microsoft, your poor attempts at pretending you don't don't work.

Sounds good to me, his house will be able to connect with the Zune and Microsoft stuff, Apple stuff will not. Makes perfect sense.

Wrong. Please refer to Tom's signature, you will find that I do not hate everything Microsoft :)

What I do hate is people who assume the worst about other people. I thought this was funny and so I posted it. If you think I hate everything Microsoft you'll just have to get over it I'm afraid.

A quote doesn't make what you say factual.

Isn't calling someone a jerk rude, and therefore against the rules?

To be fair, I doubt Steve Jobs uses a windows laptop - I don't see why this matters.

Then I will happily repeat that I do not hate Microsoft and politely encourage you to read the latter of my post again :)

On the topic itself I have often wondered if the families of the higher ups in corporations allow their families to use competitive products. I'd be equally curious to know if Jobs kids can use Windows products, if the CEO of Coke lets his kids drink Pepsi, if higher up Ford employees own anything other, etc.

Usually, but not when Tom and Matt are my friends and they're teasing me :P

Why would anyone at Ford buy a different brand car when they can get big discounts/free cars from Ford? Obviously if they are very high up they might fancy a ferrari..

Same goes for everything, and Pepsi and Coke are totally different aren't they? Also you couldn't really stop your kids drinking pepsi lol And I would be very surprised if Jobs lets his kids use Windows products.

I never would have thought Gates would stop his kids from using iPods, it surprised me so I suppose now I'm doubting what I previously thought for Apple, Coke, Pespi too.

Tbh if i was the offspring of the founder of one of the biggest companies in the world. I wouldn't care for a ipod, as they cost money whereas zunes are free, and with the best support at your finger tips, no phone queues or 30 day warrantys.

But you can't stop your kids drinking a drink they can buy at a counter..

Why would Gates want to let his family be seen using rival products?

His wife and he said it though, it wouldn't be unlike him to kid in interviews and things but I think he's being serious.

Actually I hardly ever hear anything publicity wise about his family. I'm sure they could get away with using iPods :P

That's true but I think moreso true about Windows computers as it's a bigger products. I wouldn't have thought he'd care about something small like iPods. Personally if I had unlimited money I'd buy 3 30" monitors, A 6 core Windows computer, the same 6 core one for Ubuntu and an iMac and have it all!

Well yeah, but if it did come out with a pic of him or his family walking around with an iPod or mac or whatever, it would hardly do wonders for Microsoft "not even the CEO (or whatever he is now) uses their crappy products!!"

It's not like a Razer keyboard instead of a Microsoft one because:

a) Apple is Microsoft's biggest competitor
b) iPod is what has made Apple the company it is today it symbolises the whole "Apple is better idea" since Zune is a failure (As a product, not from a technical standpoint) and the iPod isn't. Letting his children have an iPod is a sign of "Lack of faith in a Microsoft product"

He'd probably get away more with the iMac since he can install windows on it and microsoft pushes a lot of business software for macs.

Didn't Britney Spears or someone get fired from an advertising campaign for either Pepsi or Coca Cola, due to them seeing her drinking the competitors drink. I think she may have stated that the other one wasn't available or something but still didn't get her job back with them.

That's a bit different... She's meant to be advertising the product she was paid to advertise - drinking the competitors version is counter-productive and stupid :P

It's just the same. If you use an enemies product your not helping your own company thus why bill gates won't allow apple products into his household/family.

"Microsoft made a $150 million investment in non-voting Apple stock." sources say it was supposed to encourage competition... not the only time MS have thrown money Apple's way either.

Doesn't Microsoft have shares in Apple? :SIt did from 1997-2003 (Converted them in 2000). It now owns a miniature 0.0046% of Apple through a private capital management fund.
