In The Sun newspaper today on page 22, it shows a few of Facebooks rivals. I was shocked to see Habbo Hotel as one. It says

HABBO HOTEL
Launched: 2000
Users: 200 million
Taking on a virtual guise, users can chat with others in a 'hotel'.

Thoughts on this?

If Habbo was really considered a 'rival' of Facebook, they wouldn't have allowed the Habbo Facebook App.
But ye, in terms of members I don't think its anywhere near either.

It must be counting overall registered accounts & not active users. To go on habbo one day and see millions of users online would be strange..

Twitter is Facebooks biggest rival. Not Habbo.

Habbo is ONE of its rivals in terms of amount of users, but they are different concepts altogether imo haha

I don't even think Twitter is a rival because they're both completely different. Twitter allows you to give short statements about your life and it's just used as a quick way to communicate. Actually, I'm not actually sure what the point in Twitter is because it's a load of crap but whatever.

Facebook allows you to have your own profile, upload pictures, post short statements and comment... etc. It's much more in-depth and it's simply revolutionary. The only thing was MySpace and perhaps Bebo, but both of those things have disappeared as of late. Facebook is used by millions, of ALL ages; it's perfect and it has nothing at all to worry about.

They're under 2 completely different categories, so I don't see how they're rivals? :P

I'm pretty sure Twitter got rolled over by Habbo in users. Facebook though, Habbo's probably got a long way to go, but at least Habbo has a Facebook App. :]

Wow. I would say that Habbo does some of the same things as facebook but is no way near a competitor.

Wouldnt you think that habbo would be friends with facebook because they have an app.. I wonder why habbo isnt of habbo yet?

I think yes they probably are friends with Habbo but you can still be friends and rivals.

However, anyone can make an app on facebook so...

The servers would crash. The servers are already crashing with no players lol.

Side note: huge difference between facebook and habbo. Facebook not about making money, sure it does make money but they actually care about its users. habbo about profits not about YOU the player.
