Right, basically it's my neighbours laptop but she has asked me to have a look at it. While I have a look at it, I thought I'd ask for help here as well since I'm not familiar with these particular problems :P.
It's a Dell XPS M1730 running Windows Vista.
I can log on fine but then I constantly get messages saying 'Windows Problem Reporting has stopped working' and occasionally 'Data execution prevention has closed windows problem reporting' and 'Applesyncnotifier has stopped working'.
That seems to be all I've noticed at the moment. Thanks for any assistance :D.
Ah, so when you return it to your neighbour, will you tell them that XXXXXX of Habboxforum.com helped solve the problem? :)

I would backup any important data, and then reinstall Windows. If the problem persists, it could be hardware related.
what triston says, factory default it.

I'm not going to take credit for what I didn't do, but I'm not going to give them a list of HabboxForum users.

Okay thanks for your help :D. I'll probably do that tomorrow then :).

Deffo backup, format, reinstall.
Love how everyone just quotes "backup format restore" now haha :P Really not needed in most cases.
Googling the exact phrase you've put there came up with this....
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/windows-problem-reporting-has-stopped-working/15db7d79-4d95-4ade-a4aa-8d041728fc28
Seems it's got corrupt files so run the file checker following them instructions ^ :)
Tell your neighbour in future to shut the laptop down properly / keep it charged to prevent it happening in the future as that's most likely what's done it and ensure they've got security installed too :)

It fixes a lot of software issues whilst also giving you a free speed boost for a while, there's nothing against it really.
I've got too much to backup and honestly wouldn't bother installing everything again so I just google everything :p

How much of that is junk though :P I've seen your desktop ;)

I have to agree with iJoe, on the point that everyone immediately turns to "BACKUP. FORMAT. REINSTALL"
Most of the time it's not needed.. I mean, why reinstall everything, when it could be a 5 minute fix :S
Applesyncnotifier - This is connected to iTunes, if I'm not mistaken.. which isn't needed if I'm perfectly honest, follow these steps.
Click on the start menu,
Go to Run...
Type in ~ msconfig
Once loaded, go to the Startup tab
Un-check Apple Sync. Notifier
Click Apply
The others, should be a simple fix (I'm taking them as related problems) follow these instructions
Open Command Prompt.
Important: You must run Command Prompt as an administrator in Windows 7 and Windows Vista to use System File Checker.
Once Command Prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter.
sfc /scannow
Note: There's a space between sfc and /scannow.
System File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected operating system file on your computer.
Note: In some situations, especially in Windows XP and Windows 2000, you may also need access to your original Windows installation CD or DVD.
Restart your computer if sfc /scannow did actually repair any files.
Note: System File Checker may or may not prompt you to restart but even if it doesn't, you should restart anyway.
Hope this helps!

I did the 'sfc /scannow' yesterday, it said there was corrupt files but was unable to fix them - or something along those lines!

Ok, install any available updates, this might help as the error you stated also has a sub-message ~ "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will now close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
NVidia can be a known problem for this, if you have NVidia Network Manager installed, remove it.
Another one can be Norton Security, if that is installed, disable it and reboot, see if the problem recurs.

All music to be fair haha my desktop is tidy atm ;)
@Mr-Trainor
Did you run it as an administrator?
If you can use the pc past these error messages, try un-installing iTunes as there's clearly a problem with that :P
Rather annoyingly you MAY have to backup format and restore haha HOWEVER if you have the vista disk it may be able to recover the corrupted files from there :)

NOOOOOOOOOOO don't turn on me now, I'm not done suggesting problems :D
Also I forgot to mention, System Restore to the earliest backup may also help, but no guarantee.

Yeah I know I'm joking :D Formatting should be the very last option, in any given case :P
