It's okay........ but it's like repeating itself. Anyone explain why she had like used where she is or else I won't like it because it's just repeating itself like the dancing. I do like her costume though!!!!!!!!!!!

I think this is one of the worst video's she's done. It's boring, repetitive and nothing to it really. I don't mind the song would've made it better with a good video though! :P

I couldn't believe that was gaga at first.... apart from the costume but ya no. Has to be one of the worst videos she has done.

Apparently she directed the video herself, I thought it was very plain and for a rather lively song, it was a pretty boring video!

such a good song, but i just got bored of watching her walk up and down the path and gyrating on the fire escape lol.

idk if it's true but i did read that it was supposed to be directed by joseph kahn but creative differences arised as she waited more input, led to him being fired and thus haus of gaga thus directing the video? i'm sure someone will say whether that's true or not (looking at you judas :P), but yeah - that's a big pity.

This song is really good but Lady GaGa is so disappointing in this video. She looks boring and lack of energy. The MV is LAME, REPETITIVE and BORING! Choreography itself is repetitive and she doesn't shine with it. The costume is so cheap and it shows too much skin. She looks like a hooker in the video. Her costumes should be changed. Is this some kinda low cost MV? The location is the same which was at the staircase. It's so boring that I feel like stopping it.

erm, have you seen like 90% of the clothing in which 'pop stars' wear? lol, i'm pretty sure less is more within the industry so it should be no surprise. i do agree that it is repetitive though.

I have seen and in fact, some of them don't look like hookers. Miley Cyrus looks kinda cheap. so is Lady GaGa in this MV. Katy Perry doesn't look cheap in California Gurls. She defines 'sexy' not 'cheap'.

they all do. gaga, rihanna, britney, beyonce, katy perry, etc. they all wear outfits based around leotards or bra/hot pants - so the variety between each artist in regards to their outfit is quite minimal (minus gaga, whose outfits steer away from her peers in some retrospects and performances/videos). thus, the line between looking cheap and sexy is very very fine.

oh, and i dunno what part of this isn't cheap, but hey ho.

I don't say that as cheap. You see girls wearing bikini at beaches. You don't say all of them are cheap. It's just that there's no cream or watever it is on her bra. I would say very fine. Lady GaGa looks cheap with her outfit+ her dance choreography. It doesn't work. She's not as fine as Katy Perry

What has she done :(:(
I love this song but the video just ruins it. Whats with her hair and make up and why is it so boring..its not as creative as her other ones.

the director was changed during the making of the video and they had little time to finish it

also people complained she went too far with music videos, and too calm down/do something basic so this is what she has done :)

I heard they had 3 days to shoot it, but only took one?

Sure it would have been much better given the full 3 days, but there's probably not much you can do with a building and a fire escape..

(ps the video sucks, even for today's standards)

Well, the song was a bit unGaga so I'm already disappointed, and watching the video just makes me frown as I watch it, and my opinions of the song get worse each time I hear it.

I do remember thinking the other week about, this song will be really hard to make a video out of, i don't know why it just doesn't seem like a music video worthy song. And I would of though this would have more emotion because it's about her grandad isn't it?

It's about her grandfather dying, she's hardly going to do a video like Telephone or Judas for that, is she?

"One of the songs on the album that is truly one of my favorites, it's called 'Edge of Glory' and it's kind of a sad story. Sorry to be a downer. But my grandpa died about five months ago, and my dad and I were going to say goodbye to him at the hospital, and I got out a big thing of agave tequila and my dad sat next to me at the piano and we started to doing shots back and forth, and I wrote 'Edge of Glory' on the piano and my dad and I cried. The song's about your last moment on Earth, the moment of truth, the edge of glory is that moment right before you leave the Earth. So that song can be played on the piano, but it's actually set to this giant, huge, techno rock, Springsteen-esque dance beat. I actually had Clarence Clemons from the E Street Band come in and play saxophone on it. It's ******* beautiful."

It was inspired by her grandfather.

LOL lovin da shout out

basically what you said is right, but no one was "fired". there's still a few pieces of the puzzle missing, no one really knew exactly what happened but there were 3 days of shooting, the first involved gaga and dancers etc and a big production that we would expect from her, directed by kahn. then day 2 of filming she sent all her dancers home, kahn left (whether he disagreed and stormed off, was fired, or was politely told he wasn't needed anymore we don't know), scrapped the big production and filmed the video that we now have on her own with clarence clemons (the saxophonist), and day 3 was scrapped.

no one knows why gaga decided it would be better to release this simple video instead of the big budget one that was planned, but she and the haus of gaga directed it and it was edited by them and people at the label.

kind of a messy situation. and in the end i was pretty underwhelmed with the video, but i do really like it for what it is, i think it's a nice tribute to her grandfather (kissing the ground), and NYC. when you take away what it could have looked like it and all the disappointment that comes with that it's not THAT bad. it's just because it's so different of what everyone would expect from lady gaga.

You're partially right. GaGa wanted to change some of Kahn's ideas for the video, so asked if she could co-direct and therefore have more input. Keeping the story short; Kahn said no and was released from the project, leaving GaGa with one day to direct the video herself.

Here's an indirect tweet from Joseph Kahn (@josephkahn) on the matter:
"No, I don't co-direct. One canvas, one paintbrush. Respect the art. Very simple rule with me."

I thought she looked like a weird power ranger when she was looking out of the window at the start - it's a good video though!

I have to admit, i do like it but obviously it's not the best video for obvious reasons. On the Paul O Grady show when she performed this song, the dance for it seems really cool and it would of made the video better, though very different feel. Go to 3.25 for the dance bit :)

We've all learnt a lesson here. Gaga stick to singing yh.

The song is my favorite and this video is totally the opposite. The problem is with gaga her videos get more creative/better/w.e and so we except more from her each time. Then she comes out with this and we are all disgusted with her tack. However, to be fair, If i created this video for my media cwk, I would probs get a D at best. She's not even a good dancing in this aswell lol. It would have been better if she did an emotional video for her granddad.

I'm been serious, she used the same location and used about 1 convention of the pop genre been dancing and that was poor, she just stood there flopping her arms about and posed on staircases.
