View Full Version : Beats by dre
Hey guys,
I doubt this is in the correct section but oh well! Beats by dre are a brand of headphones by Dr Dre.
They are awesome but only if you buy the studio or pro versions which cost 250£ +. I bought the solo heaphones which cost me 150£ from bestbuy and they snapped after 2 months! But my friend has the bigger ones (studio) and he has had them for over a year and no problems and they sounds amazing!
Has anyone else tried these or own a pair? If you go into apple store sometimes they have the solo headphones on show with the iphones.
What are your thoughts on them?

They're pretty old now but I had the red solo hd's and i took them back after a couple of days cause they hurt my ears and weren't comfortable. I want the next ones up cause they're better.

Overpriced crap.

Too many fake one's available and so the price isn't worth it regardless of the quality isn't exactly that superior.
I cant believe how some people buy them off "guys" in street corners and for some reason seem to think they're real when they only paid about £50.
Yeah eBay have so many for fake its stupid - people just buy them for what they look like. I may be getting an apprenticeship soon and it says they send us for business trips to newcastle and manchester (im from the london) so if im going to be stuck on a train for that long I need some decent quality headphones - debating to get the bigger ones.

I've tried them on, they are pretty cool! Comfortable and I love the sound.. but they are pretty over priced.. Might as well get other noise reduction headphones for under £100.

But like what lol? I hate skull candy ones and sennheiser dont appeal to me. Beats are the only ones i find like amazing and so comfortable and stylish!

I am not an 'expert'
But Skullcandy ear/head phones are absolutely shocking. You pay 99% for the brand. The sound quality isn't great, they break easily and you pay, as stated, largely for them to be 'skull candy'.
That sounds remarkably like a blackberry.

Noise cancellation will be quite useful on a train I imagine.

It doesn't make me an expert on headphones? I generally know a relative amount on most consumer electronics (be it a fridge or a computer or whatever).
Also, trust Tom (Recursion), he generally knows what he is on about :)

I would prefer not to get in to that old debate on this forum - since people tend to get a bit out of hand.
Professionals often you Mac's, but then often use applications such as Adobe Dreamweaver - which you ca also get on Windows. I develop on my custom windows PC, using the Adobe CS5 Master Collection - and it is absolutely fine for me. I would make a separate thread in the Tech forum if I were you, to get more views :) The only thing which I find a Mac is far superior on is video editing etc - just my experiences though.

PC, both MacOS and Windows can do exactly the same in terms of multimedia production and you're best off working with what you're familiar with rather than what everyone else tells you.

Going to say, what do you use atm?
Yeah, people have different opinions. I want to get a mac, I cant stand using my PC anymore .. I just want a new laptop ^_^
Cheers :)

Off topic but, Windows 7 on my main PC, and now that my MacBook's dead, I'll be using Windows 7 and a mixture of Linux distros on my new laptop (when it arrives :@)
I had a pair of the £80 earphones and they broke within a few days, the woman in HMV was in shock and didn't believe they'd broken, went to test them and came back, apologised and refunded me :P
They are immense though (:

Yeah, there's the people who enjoy wasting money on crap, and then there's people who like to get good quality stuff for their hard earned cash.
If I could afford them, i'd get them. I've borrowed some before and the sound is unbelievable.

Recursion, not everyone is like you. We don't all like the same things. You need to realise that. Just because you think one pair of headphones are amazing doesnt mean the whole world is going to agree.

No, it's a fact they're overpriced pieces of ****e.
How can you prove that it is indeed "fact" just because they are £200.. if they were the same quality as skullcandy's then I would agree... :S

How can you prove that they're any good? The fact they cost £200 isn't a good enough reason.
Beats products are all EQ'd to produce "better" bass and treble to make up for an extreme lack of detail, what you hear on those headphones is nothing like what the music is supposed to sound like.
The pair I had seemed worth the money to me, the didnt lack any detail what so ever. What headphones do recommend are better than beats by dre?

To be honest ,
I would love a pair of "monster beats" but the fact they are over priced headphones puts me off in a way.
I have a pair of Airwalk headphones and they cost about £30 and they are amazing. They are so good my nan bought a pair (that sounds wrong in some ways)
http://www.sportsdirect.com/airwalk-headphones-750055
My nans headphones :P But they have gone down to £8 good deal (Y)
I have a pair in blue and pink :) but i cant seem to find the image on the sports direct website ..
