View Full Version : JACKASS' Ryan Dunn dead at 34

Died along with someone else in a car crash early this morning, just a couple of hours after posting a picture of him drinking with friends on Twitter. The car looks like someone jumped on a trash can. Looks like a probable DUI smash in which case they get no sympathy from me.

no sympathy from me either if it was drink driving. Glad it wasn't like what usually happens tho... The driver survives while some innocent person driving to their 2 year old daughter's birthday party dies :'(

It's weird when you look at his twitter though and think... Just a few hours later he'd be dead DUNDUNDUN

****, He was awesome. Can probably expect a jackass tribute to him.

On June 20, 2011 at approximately 3:30 am EDT, Dunn died in a car crash in West Goshen Township, Pennsylvania. Reports from TMZ state that he posted a photo of him drinking with friends hours beforehand. At the time of the accident, Dunn was believed to have been traveling over 110 mph (180 km/h). An unidentified occupant of the vehicle was also found dead at the scene. WKST-FM reported that both of the bodies had suffered severe burns, and the emergency medical technicians experienced difficulty in identifying the vehicle's occupants; Dunn was reportedly identified by his tattoos and facial hair. The crash kept the section of route 322 between New Street and Pottsville Pike closed for almost six hours.

Regardless of the likely selfish manner in which he died... I don't understand the outpour by so many people about this, this is someone's who famous for sticking a car up his anus. He really is not some legend or tragic loss to society, merely entertaining for a few minutes.

It looks like he and his friends were drunk so as far as I'm concerned we should give them all Darwin awards and be done with it.

Take Michael Jackson's death as an example, sure, his name is a controversial subject if you're naive, and I accept that, but to see some users uttering jokes and images is, in my view, disgusting and thoughtless. Do they give a damn about the family and close friends?

Stick a fork in him, he's Dunn.

The difference between Ryan Dunn and Michael Jackson is that the former's death gets no sympathy from me whatsoever, only to his family, because of his selfishness.

I've never respected Dunn, and even if I had done, that would have gone out of the window today. You wouldn't be telling me to show respect to someone who could have taken innocent lives because of his careless stupidty if you'd have to take photographs of innocents who had died as a result of drunk drivers, many of whom escaped unscathed from the wrecks they caused. Dunn has pissed me off big-time. I despise him.

Yes, an uncomprable amount of men, women and children died today, I know that all too well. As I wrote above, Michael Jackon was merely an example. People making jokes out of deaths is unacceptable and in extremely poor taste. I find your post pretty contradictory. Oh well.

I thought you consider jokes about death unacceptable and in poor taste?
---
Yes, I have no respect for him either after what's happened, but I'm not the one cracking jokes, have you even considered his family for a second? They both lost their son today, and you're already making jokes about it.

Re Michael Jackson, yes, I fully agree that I was hypocritical, but through anger. You wouldn't really understand unless you spent six months of my life in 2008 in my shoes. Hypocritical? Yes, but my outlook and opinion has changed. These days I embrace bad taste.

Only making that assumption as you seem to do everything. Photographer, reviewer, writer, news reporter, movie person - the lot! And normally that means the person isn't great in much, just average in a fair amount (a utility person). Since if you look at many/most of the top people in different fields they only write about certain things - not the entire world.

Also that is no excuse. You go around telling people off for joking about a death, then do the same yourself?

Yes, Marketing, see my edit. I don't have a problem accepting responsiblity for my actions.

I was a forensic photographer for 6 months nearly three years ago before I quit when offered a job on a film. Horrible, horrible work that I signed up to after watching too much CSI and being on the look out for local work during the recession.

I'm a film-maker and an entertainment journalist. Reviewing, writing features, news, etc, are all part of that. I do not write about the world, I write about film mainly, with TV and video games thrown in as of last year. Film criticism and writing features on movies is what I like best. I'm not an egoist but I know from enough people, DVD boxes with my name on them and mag publications I'm in that I am considered good at what I do and I pride myself on my ability to write. I don't know my 12x table, but I can write and write well.

I haven't made any excuses for myself if you actually read properly. I was saddened by Jackson's death and annoyed at the remarks made about him. I, through first-hand experience, am very angry at Ryan Dunn, hence my remarks. I wholeheartedly accept the hypocrisy.

I brought that up, not him, he complained about it to back up his point of why he is angry at Ryan Dunn (Seeing people who had been victims of drunk drivers), which, is a fair point. He obviously continued the work for 6 months because he needed money.

A company was all set to make it, then the recession hit and they scaled back their production line. Following on from that, the man who ran the company for 40 years with his brother, who died the year before, lost his new business parter in an eerily similar way. I'm not sure how the company is these days, if even still operating. It was this close to being made back then and three years on, was optioned by another company under a different title. After all, that title was awful. Sometimes you look back and wonder what you were thinking at the time. Doesn't evne make much sense.

Aside from old short films, yes, that was the only film I was going to direct. I'm a writer/producer who aspires to one day direct a feature.

I will be perfectly hones with the film you posted on here.

Any serious person aiming to tell people about their films etc should not share all with a Habbo forum. Would be much more sensible to get people more interested in the industry to listen about it@- as I personally would take a thread like that seriously if it was posted now :p just my thoughts on that.

I thought it would have been interesting for people to hear about the process of getting a small independent film made. Back then everything was done on the fly and I could talk about that stuff. These days since I'm bonafied in the industry, I'm bound by contracts and NDAs, etc, so can't say a lot about what I'm involved with. I wasn't trying to get anyone's attention, and if so, posting on here would have been the complete wrong way about doing so.

Anyway, after all this flaming and arguing and disagreeing, I like Jackass, it made me laugh, and Dunn was one of my favourite cast stars, I'm quite saddened by the news. It was his own fault as it's a DUI but y'know it's still quite devastating. He's still a douche for drinking and driving and the only difference with this and any other DUI accident is that Dunn was in the public eye.

Well I don't really watch the show, but he had a fair share of stunts throughout the movies.
& he was one of the funny performers on jackass, so obviously to hardcore jackass fans the loss would be much harsher in their eyes.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drunk driving was something said, he had 6 alcholic drinks. He was at a local bar he usually goes to, the bartender knew him, told in a report/questioning he seemed himself. BTW, thats what TMZ said, you can't believe the paparazzi, If you do.... o.o I don't even know what to say about that. -.-

I'm sure 6 alcoholic drinks is still way over. 2 Pints will put you over here in the UK.

With a drinker like himself that's deffiantly not allot. Them 2 pints, dont get me started... :)
I had a huge arguement with a british chick on habbo after new years, I had a 12 pack of hard iced tea, her saying if i did i would be in the hospital especially it being my first time drinking. But was fine, not even hung over. So yeah just saying.

Suppose it depends on what he was drinking, after 6 shots of jager - espically from a club doesn't do much if anything to me. But if that 6 pints, I'd be a lot worse for wears. Still taking on 110mph without any alcohol in your system is bad enough, let alone that cruising through your system.

That's false. You should do some research before posting about this, Don't just go by what you hear/eavesdrop about on habbo. That's something I would do. I heard what you had just said allot on habbo. Then i researched it, False information, and false rumors spreading.

2. It's been confirmed by police that he was the driver.

Within the media industry you have to be multi skilled or you won't get a job, just being "a writer" will get you no where, but doing multiple over media related jobs, makes you more appealing.

I don't really care because... people die in car crashes every day, what makes him so special.

Sorry for quoting like 10 pages back.

Personally I do not know him and I do not care about his programme/films as they were just 'You've Been Framed' and 'World's Craziest Fools' for the big screen, but I don't really want to condemn people to hell or say anyone deserved death. He was clearly stupid and unlucky, but I think saying "he deserved it" says more about the person that, than it does about him.

In the media industry how many people are directors as well as journalists (that actually get far)?

Also you could say that about any famous person who dies? He was relatively famous so obviously it is going to be talked about lol

So you should show sympathy.I think you're missing the point. It doesn't matter whether he had shots or beer or a totally different alcoholic beverage, the law in Pennsylvania is incredibly tough and states that you shouldn't drink alcohol and drive, otherwise you're breaking the law.

The law doesn't take into account what you've drunk and how you respond to it seeing as it only takes a little alcohol to slow down your reactions no matter how you can handle it.

To be fair, saying "no sympathy, glad he died instead of someone innocent" means about as much as he deserved it :P he was drunk, handling a vehicle and died, you said you have no sympathy and are glad he died and no-one innocent. It was a bit of a dodgy thing to say and can be misread :)

You're saying that like they 100% deserved to die, because they were sitting in the car.. how do you know they didn't try and stop him from speeding, or try and have him pull over?
No one deserves to die, no matter what.

You didn't say it exactly, but you said that in a way that it was meant to say, "it's their fault, they deserve the outcome"

And you still haven't answered, was the passenger innocent? The answer is yes, because it's unlikely they provoked or approved of his actions, but you say anyway;

Glad he died INSTEAD of an innocent.
When an innocent died also.

In the end the passenger chose to get in that car knowing the risks
