Right I have a few questions about uni and a few of the surrounding things to do with it, and as soon as I've posted this I'll be trying to find some of the answers myself, but it would be great if any of you could help me!

1 - I've already decided I'm doing film at university, (unsure whether to do film studies or a more practical course), but do any of you know of any universities known for good film courses?

2 - As my course would be quite vocational, it is pretty much a necessity that I have some form of experience, but it is proving difficult/impossible to find anywhere to get film related work experience. I know BBC/ ITV/ C4 all have schemes for this, but I've missed the application deadline for them all, and the next one will be too late, so if anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be very grateful.

3 - Finally, do any of you know what universities like to see on a personal statement, because at the moment mine is going to be thread bare. I'm looking into taking up a few hobbies/ extra curricular activities, but are there any that universities seem to respect more than others?

Thanks for ANY help you can give (:

Oh and if it helps, I'm studying English Lit, Maths, Media Studies and Spanish in 6th form atm, and I'm predicted A, A, A*, B in that order.

Your personal statement is everything, it could be the one thing that makes the University offer you DDD for an AAA course.

You need to put about volunteer work, hobbies, interests, work experience, paid work, ANYTHING that makes you look well rounded and like you don't sit on your arse all day (things like Duke of Edinburgh or Air Cadets look fantastic too). Big yourself up and boast as much as possible, don't use witty comments or jokes, be straight to the point and concise. Remember the first sentence is everything too because that is what will engage the reader.

Pass it round to as many people as you can to check it over and give suggestion. Tutors, heads of year, heads of departments, your mum, your dad, your uncle, your neighbour, WHOEVER you can is useful.
