Okay.. little background info

I used to be an insecure guy, always chosing for clothes that don't make an impression so I wouldn't be noticed.
I have enough of it and I'm working at it.

Clothing and hair style have a big impact on the way people perceive you when you meet em.
Therefore I decided to dump my wardrobe and I have trendy clothes and leather coats now.

I find my hair pretty lame and want to make a change.
I don't want to try a different colour, but a different style.

Maybe I should let it grow so there are more options.

Here's a picture:

Any tips? lookin' forward

Stick with short hair unless you want to look like an idiot/clone. Go with a grade 2 and spike it up a bit.

Ignore the idiot up there. You won't look like an idiot/clone if you let your hair grow a bit longer. But you should shave it at the sides and let it grow longer at the top and then style it like this

So what's your point?
Long hair is for idiots or long hair would make me look like an idiot?
Maybe you think I look like an idiot anyway? lol

@ Alex:
Yea that looks good but in my opinion that's because of the combination with facial hair.
I barely have any. Genetical thing

Growing it out doesn't necessarily mean more options - often with shorter hair (say between 2 and 4 back/sides with longer top) you can achieve a variety of styles, but it depends if you want to pick a style and keep it or change what you do with it day by day. The best advice is just to experiment and see what you like - if you get it cut and hate it then it's usually not too much of a problem to fix it in some way and try again when it's grown out again. I would advise you to stay away from those "helmet" styles though with the droopy sideburns and birdtail thing at the back, I haven't seen it suit anyone and it certainly wouldn't go with your face shape.

On a side note, not really sure what Adam's on about saying that growing your hair will make you look like a clone and then suggesting the most common young men's haircut in the world...

I have this image of the guy that never does anything wrong and I hate it. It may be ballsy but not ******ed and attention seeking. No excessive hair gel and no birdtails. Don't wanna look immature and attention seeking
Showing up with piercings and tattoos would be idiotic but I want to gradually change my image.
I like the "just got out of bed - look" but you have to grow some beard for it and I barely do.

I could go to the hair dresser and let her copy one of those hair cuts. I like the first one the most. But I wonder if my hair would give a similar effect if I cut it like his. Maybe there's wax or other stuff in it.

If you mean the one I posted, then yes there's wax in it to style it, but the good thing about that hairstyle is 90% of the time you won't need to style it unless you want to cause the messier the better.
