View Full Version : 'USB Switcher'
Okay, building a flight sim, what I want is to have two joysticks. Identical.
I've seen this done before, where there were two joysticks, and a usb switcher. They literally pressed a button, and it switched control from one joystick to the other.
I've been searching, but all I can find, is switchers that share one device with two computers, not two devices with one computer.
Anyone help me out here?

Can you not just leave them both plugged in?
Nah, they'd need to be in the same port and identical, so they can both be used on FS if you get me?

I'm sure FS works even with two plugged in, it'll give control to the one that's moving. Maybe I'm wrong but this was the case with FSX, my joystick and my 360 controller.
Hmm, I'll give it a try tonight then, but I'd still rather have 6the switcher, since it's to teach students, and I can quickly take control, if they're about to crash? :P

won't it take time to initialise the USB device when you switch it over anyway lol?
If it's the same device, in the same port, if it's a switcher, in theory, it shouldn't have to recognize it, and just carry on if you get me?
If not, I've found a backup plan, using FSUIPC

yeah but dont forget it'll have to disconnect the other one that's there and then connect the other so it'll be a bit slower, I think your best bet is to plug two in
Sounds like a fair point. FSUIPC it is.
For anyone interested: here's the a mockup of the sim:
